The ants go marching....

one by one hurrah, hurrah.
Now that I have that little tune stuck in your head....here is the fun sneak peek of next weeks' Kim Hughes release! All I could think of when I saw these little ants was them carrying off my picnic lunch. There are a lot of fun pieces to this set but I am showing you a couple of my favorite images.
First off, that tree! See the possibilities...the paper piecing you could do!
Then the food, the watermelon in particular...love that!

Here is a close up of one of my fun details on this card. The plaid picnic blanket...yes, it's fabric...stitched onto my card. I also wanted a few of the ants directly on the blanket. I stamped them and they weren't as solid as I wanted....
No matter, just took my copic marker and filled them in!
See the streaky look on the tree trunk. After I had colored the tree trunk I took my blender pen and swiped it up and down to create a little texture.

So next THURSDAY is the release! Here are all my card deets:
Stamps:
Summer Trees, Bear Hugs (Kim Hughes Collection) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper:
Weathervane Patterned Paper (October Afternoon)
Simply Smooth White, Black (Prism)
Accessories:

See you tomorrow for cupcake friday!

Set a pretty table

Want to set a beautiful table? I personally have found that it is easiest when you establish a theme. This one...butterflies. My sister gave me a large pillar candle a LONG time ago and it was just begging for some art!

The napkin holders are held together with basic grey magnets so they will be very easy to reuse time and again.
Here are all my project details:
Stamps:
Vintage Butterflies (Saturday Evening Post), Mother's Day Centers (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Ever After Patterned Paper (Cosmo Cricket)
Tissue and Wax Paper
Accessories:
Butterfly Die cut (Spellbinders)
Ribbon, Magnets (Basic Grey)
Copic Markers
Candle
Pearls (KaiserCraft)
Heat Tool

Here is a close up of the candle. I stamped on a large piece of tissue paper. Colored with my copics and then heat set it to my candle with a sheet of wax paper. I added some paper trim and ribbon to the very bottom.

Come back tomorrow for a new Kim Hughes peek!

Hello...

We have had some beautiful weather the past few days on the west coast! Fantastic inspiration for today's card. I was able to wrap a couple challenges into today's card. First off, this is a little peeky at next weeks release from the GM line at CHF. It is called "The Beach". It is actually a whole set! Yeah, GM images are now not only sold one by one but this is a fabulous themed set!

Next, CHF is the proud sponser over at the Card Positioning Systems Blog. Go check it out HERE!

Lastly, a color challenge. Today it was red, olive and black...perfect! Love when I can do a few challenges in one card.

Taylored Expressions Challenge #65!

Last week you may recall that I followed the sketch...to the letter. This week I took a little "artistic license". If you scroll down and look at the sketch you see that bold strip down one side. I actually used vellum. I stamped my image both on my card stock and then on my vellum. I colored only the fisherman on the backside of my vellum and then layed the strip over top and sewed it in place.

This was simple to do, but for a "guy" card I think it was quite effective. I used a paper frill as my scalloped detail. The sentiment is from a new set called "Father's Day Centers" from CHF.

I know, quite simple and plain....but guys don't want the fluff...right?
Here are all my card deets:
Stamps:
It doesn't get much better (Thomas Kinkade), Father's Day Centers (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Espresso, Cranberry Adirondack (Ranger)
Timber Brown Stazon (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Simply Smooth White, Vellum (Prism)
Accessories:
Copic Markers

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the cupcake crew came up with:
Vicki Chrisman: This Art that makes me Happy
Donna Baker: Serenity in Stamping

Lynn Mercurio: Stamperosity

The cupcake sampler this week is the lovely Joanne Basile! I have had the pleasure of meeting her in person and her work is just as wonderful as she is! Enjoy her blog HERE.

Enjoy your weekend! Happy Blurfing!

The Beauty of White

There is something so beautiful in a white palette. So crisp and pretty. Julia challenged us today on SCS to use a white canvas for today's creation. We are approaching wedding season so I went with a white wedding theme. These tree swallows are the stamp of the month for april at CHF...don't forget to pick these up. I tried to just use snippets of things here and there. A tiny bit of patterned paper, a left over piece of ribbon, a button, a flower...

Do you ever have trouble pasting something to vellum? I almost always stitch it on, a quick fix that looks pretty on the inside as well. This thick vellum from Prism makes a nice and sturdy card base...love that!

Here is just a little close up, trying to capture the "romance" of the image.

All the deets:

The Cafe

Mmmmm...come to my cafe and I'll gladly treat you to a coffee. A coffee set is going to be released next week at CHF...you can guess how I felt about that! Woohoo! I wanted to show you a close shot of one of the mugs in my project. The pattern was created just simply by dabbing my blender pen in spots that I colored. The blender pen PUSHES color out of the way and therefore lightens.

I had this old frame kicking around and what was in it was very outdated....can you say dusty rose and country blue....
I wanted to create a fun border for my focal images so I did the "polished stone" technique on a transparency with my copic marker refills. Gotta love all those color choices. I used E33, E17, YG95, E49....mmmm....looks like a yummy coffee mix.
Here is a close shot of the mugs...each one a little different. Some I used my blender pen, others I used a marker slightly darker. I just had fun creating whatever kind of cup came to my head.
I then airbrushed my mugs with my Y21 marker to add to the warm glow.
Here are all my deets, watch for this release next week TUESDAY!
Stamps:
The Cafe (Shady Tree Studio) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Espresso Adiorndack (Ranger)

Home Tweet Home

Yesterday I showed you a cute new sketched bird, today I'm showing you his "home". It is from the same line at Cornish Heritage Farms called Shady Tree Studio and I do think this little house is terribly tweet (couldn't resist). It will hit the farm next week Tuesday!
I wanted to integrate this image with the fabulous paper from Webster's Pages...isn't it just YUMMY! I stitched on my little fringe and added some alphabet stickers I had kicking around to create the sentiment.

Here is a close look at the house. I stamped it on my patterned paper and again on some white paper. Colored the house with copics then cut it out and popped it up over the image on my card.
I carefully placed my "M" to cover where my branch begins, you can see the cool shadow it makes on my card.
Here are all the deets!
Rubber Stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms:
Thatch Birdhouse (Shady Tree Studio), Script Essential Expressions (Mona Lisa Moments)
Ink:
Watermelon Adirondack Dye Ink (Ranger)
Tuxedo Black Memento Dye Ink (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Simply Smooth White (Prism)
The Sweet Life (Webster's Pages)
Accessories:
Ribbon (Prima)
Letter Stickers (Basic Grey)

Off to color! Have a great day!

DD Challenge Monday!

It is the 20th of the month and I managed to play along with the "dirty girls" of Splitcoast stampers! This month we were encouraged to pick favorites.
A current favorite....my copics of course! They are my coloring "go to" all the time.
We were also asked to choose an all time favorite. For me I tossed between coffee images and bird images. The bird won! You have no doubt seen my blog littered with birds and I got special permission to show this one off today. It is a little more than a week earlier than it's release but I really wanted to color this bird!
I thought he went perfect with the Jenni Bowlin mini papers.

Here are all the deets to this card:
Rubber Stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms:
Sketched Bluebird (Shady Tree Studio Line) for release April 28th
Mother's Day Centers (Mona Lisa Moments)
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Simply Smooth White (Prism)
Tangerine Dream Mini Papers (Jenni Bowlin)
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Air Brush System (Copic) for the flower

Button (Sewing Stash)
Embroidery Floss
Border Punch (EK Success)

This was a joy to create, as it was not for any "work" requirements, just for the sheer joy of creating! Check out all the other "dirty girl" creations in the gallery HERE.

Enjoy your monday!

Taylored Expressions Challenge #64!

Look!....I can follow a sketch...lol! Pretty close anyway!
One of my favorite images from Kim Hughes' "Ocean Friends" set is this little jellyfish. I wanted to make them male and female with my colors.

Little tip: This is one single jellyfish stamp, to make them look not quite identical I stamped one without the little mouth and drew it in on the opposite side with my black multiliner pen. Love that I can add to an image with these pens and still color with my copics!

I used this totally fun paper from My Mind's Eye that I got from the lovely duo at Eclectic Paperie (Joy and Daisy). Thanks girls!

One final little touch...I stamped the heart shape around the two jelly lovers. I also strung embroidery floss through my button to look like dangling tentacles.

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the cupcake crew came up with:
Stephanie Hargis: Steph's Stampin' Stuff
Vicki Chrisman: This Art that makes me Happy

Donna Baker: Serenity in Stamping
Jackie Pedro: The Scalloped Edge

Have a wonderful weekend!

Custom Colors

This was for Today's "Ways to use it" challenge. We were inspired to use or create frames. I created this frame by stamping on a transparency sheet with my scrapblock and then running through my die cut machine cutting with my nestablities die. Isn't this lil' elephant sweet....it is from Kim Hughes' new set "Zooper Fun"
See that light green/blue haze around him? That is my BG10 custom color mix! All the chat on Marianne's blog about custom colors made me think I should point out mine.
Here are all the deets:
Stamps:
Distressed Circle (Scrapblock), Zooper Fun (Kim Hughes), Mother Centers (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Black Stazon, Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Weathervane (October Afternoon)
Transparency (Office Supply Store)
Simply Smooth White (Prism)
Accessories:
Circle Dies (Spellbinders)
Copic Markers
Airbrush System (Copic)

Flowers (Prima)
Tiny Twinks (Taylored Expressions)
Stitching

I took an empty refill bottle.....labeled it....and mixed 2cc's of blender with 2cc's of BG10 refill and shook them together and filled an empty sketch marker. I love this VERY light blue as the edges are easier to blend out to white creating that very soft haze you see around my elephant.
I also have markers for this in Y21 and B000.

Thanks for dropping by! Don't forget to come back for cupcake friday tomorrow!

THANK

You might want to click on this photo to see it larger...

After experiencing last weekend...I am acutely aware of the gift of Easter. This was a perfect springboard for the project I created today. I thought this would make a nice table centerpiece or mantle decor reminding me of goodness.
If you have the airbrush system....this is the project for you!
First of all the paper, yummy goodness by Graphic 45. You can probably tell by now how much I enjoy this paper line. If you are looking for a good place to purchase it...try Joy and Daisy at Eclectic Paperie! They now ship direct to Canada....so we Canadians can get a little paper lovin'!

All the letters are grungeboard I then painted them with white crackle paint then airbrushed them with R27 for this pretty red. I airbrushed the grungeboard flowers too and used my markers to make my white ribbon match.
The sentiment is from the "All things Fall" set in the Rummage Bin at Cornish Heritage Farms.
Here are another few images from "All things Fall", colored with my copics. My favorite part on this panel is the airbrushed bird on grungeboard.
This panel I had quite of bit of thinking....A is for apple....but that didn't quite seem enough. ABUNDANCE, yes! I combined the two thoughts and stamped the "kissable tree" in the same white crackle paint then....you guessed it....airbrushing fun!
I picked up a DYMO label gun last week to use when I don't have the right stamp sentiment. It is perfect in the black and white here.
N...for nature. I wanted a more rustic look on this panel. Stamping the moose and laying the flowers over top.

My last panel...and probably my favorite. Kindness....something we receive, but also something we give away....

Enjoy a THANKFUL TUESDAY!

Feeling Refreshed

It has been wonderful to have a long weekend filled with family and friends. It has left me creatively refreshed and ready to play with my crafting supplies again. Hope all of you had an enjoyable Easter weekend!
Here's a little close up of the fun funky flowers on my card. This was just plain white paper that I stamped with the large flower from "Ornamental Beauty" and then airbrushed with my copics and then swiped a little paint around the edges. The circles are not perfect, they are hand cut out which gives them some charm too.

Here is the full card made with a sentiment from the "Friend Centers" set at Cornish Heritage Farms.
Here is the full supply list:
Rubber Stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms:
Ornamental Beauty (Rummage Bin), Friendship Centers (Mona Lisa Moments)
Ink:
Black Memento, Olive Brilliance (Tsukineko)
Paper:
White (Neenah)
Urban Prairie (Basic Grey)
Accessories:
Sticker, brads (Basic Grey)
Airbrush System (Copic)
White paint (Claudine Hellmuth)

Taylored Expressions Challenge #63!

Seeing that today is Good Friday, I thought it fitting to do a Kinkade card for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge. I love this image of this church from the "Streams of Living Water" stamp. It is only a section of this stamp, but the piece I wanted to highlight.
This is a very "copic" card as I used my markers to first color my image, then airbrushed the sky portion (to get it soft and even). I then airbrushed my white lace with Y21 and then airbrushed the white prima flower I had. Why stop there....I also airbrushed my pearl to match.
I used the airbrush gun up again my gold spica glitter pen to color the inside of my flower as well. Basically I had a blissful time just colorin'!
If you click on this photo you can see it really close up.
This is a short post for me today, as there are lots of family gatherings this weekend, and a lot to do.....

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the cupcake crew came up with:
Stephanie Hargis: Steph's Stampin' Stuff

A Love Story

Disclaimer: I am NOT a regular scrapbooker and now that I look over this project, there are things that I could "tweek" here and there but nonetheless I am pleased with this wall hanging duo for our bedroom.
I found a couple of ceramic wall plaques at the dollar store, just crying out to be covered.
The paper is "The Sweet Life" by Webster's Pages....this beautiful paper seems to tell a story all by it's self. It is perfect for my "fairy tale" story.

Yes, that's me and my hubby in that wedding photo....we look like kids!
This is one of my favorite stamping touches. The verse is from "Wedding Centers" in the Mona Lisa Moments line from Cornish Heritage Farms. The bride and groom stamp from the Kim Hughes Collection.
I needed to show you a side view, it is pretty all the way around with this prima ribbon.
A couple of details you might not notice....
"A love story" is stamped from that same "Wedding Centers" set.
Stitching everywhere from around the perimeter to around my photo and a stitch line to accentuate the circle motif.
I did go in with my copic markers a little and touch the photo. Adding a little yellow on the outside of my hubbys' sleeve to draw a little more definition.
Here is my current family....16years later. I cut a little around the frog so that my photo could slip under his nose.
I used my copics to give some color to the tractor hood.
"Embrace, Moments to remember and the flourish" are all stamps from CHF that I incorporated into this design as well.

Yes, I will admit, my hubby has given me the life of a fairy tale. I truly enjoyed every process of creating this wall art.

See you all tomorrow....you know it is cupcake friday.....as well as a very "GOOD FRIDAY". See you then!

Easter Blog Hoppin'!

Look who's hopping around today on the CHF blog hop!
Yes, that awesome vintage "Easter Basket" image from Saturday Evening Post.
I wanted you to see a nice close shot of this image done in Claudine Hellmuth's acrylic paint.

Looking for paint application techniques and tips?
1. The higher the viscosity (thicker the paint) the more evenly it will cover your stamp. Claudine's studio line is perfect for this.
2. I use Tim Holtz's application tool with the dry cut foam on the bottom to apply the paint to my stamp.
3. Take a piece of plastic and scoop out your paint, lay your rubber stamp facing up on your table. Pounce your application tool in the paint and get your sponge good and saturated. (Notice on the pink bag my image isn't quite as clear, well that was my "first" attempt and I realized I wasn't using enough paint).
Dab the paint with the sponge on your stamp, get it good and gooey, stamp immediately.

Note: This technique works best if you are using DEEPLY etched rubber because when applying your paint...the paint will find it's way into the creases and your rubber. The creases need to be deep enough that it won't stamp out onto your project. I couldn't believe the detail I could achieve with paint on this stamp...look at that basket, you can even make out the chicks!

So....my kids aren't getting "baskets" this year....they get bags. This was a simple strip of 6.5"(the width of my cutting ruler)by 30" strip of fabric sewn in half and tied up with a ribbon and tag......easy peasy!
The fabric you ask?.....Yummy stuff from Michael Miller, it is the "Flights of Fancy" line by Paula Prass.
There you have it, my quick and easy easter packaging!
Now you want to see more easter eye candy?
Start at the source (THE CHF BLOG) and of course the other CHF chicks that played along:
Julia,Kristine,Lisa,Joanne and Becky!

Here is a look at the set:

This set was designed by Julia Stainton for Cornish....it is really pretty and I have used it a lot already...so expect to see lots of cards with this set!
Happy Birthday to Julia today as well!
Click on the photo if you would like a closer look.

Today's card that I'm showing you is one of those "one layer cards". The simple clean design really shows off the ornate beauty of the large flower stamp. I stamped the background flowers first in colored ink and then colored them in with my copics in colors close to my ink...so they would appear more as "shadows". Then I stamped my top flower and sentiment. Colored my ribbon to match and stitched it on.
Here are the complete details:

Ornamental Beauty (Rummage Bin)
Ink:
Lettuce, Willow Adirondack Ink (Ranger)
Black Memento Ink (Tsukineko)

More Graphic 45!

There are so many things that I love about this paper! It is vintage...yet modern...the patterns are bold, the color rich.... Where to get it? I bought mine from Joy and Daisy at Eclectic Paperie (the paper and a few other things!)
Two very special people are behind the inspiration in these cards. Our kids lovingly called grandpa "papa" when they were little. Grandma has the coolest "tickle trunk" around...you should see all the fun vintage ware she has in there. We have fun family photos with all the kids dressed up for tea...
I love how the Cornish stamp sets go so well with this paper. I think this is one of my favorite looks of the license plates stamp! I smiled as I picture grandpa shining up his red convertable for another summer season!
Here are all the card deets:
Stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms:
1953 Corvette (GM), License Plates (SEP), You're a Classic (MLM)
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento, Graphite Black Brilliance (Tsukineko)
Moulin Rouge (Palette)
Paper:
Simply Smooth White (Prism)
Patterned Paper (Graphic 45)
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Sticker Letters (Basic Grey)

This "fashionista" line from Graphic 45 is just beautiful...I love the vintage clothes....speaking of that. My daughter gets to wear her grandmother's wedding dress in the school's upcoming production of "Fiddler on the Roof"! How COOL is that! This card gives you a SNEAK PEEK at what is coming to the Rummage Bin line next week. I bet you can't even spot the stamps! They integrate so well with this paper! There are 3...can you spot them?
Here are all the deets:

Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)

My tip of the day....let the world around you and the people you love inspire you!
