Flourishing Bird

I had my adorable neice and nephew here this morning so today's inspiration challenge on SCS is quick and simple. I managed to come up with this after they left. I love both bird and flourish images. I wanted a clean simple look for a change of pace. Bird stamps are Cavalinni. Flourishes are Rhonna Farrer. Sentiment is A Muse. The little beads are by Robin's Egg (I thought quite fitting). I colored them with my copic pen to match my cs. The ribbon is Martha Stewart and that is all there is to it! Enjoy your weekend!

Welcome Baby

This is my card for today's SCS color challenge. Love the richness of this color combo. The colors are Mellow Moss, Not Quite Navy, and my neutral is Chocolate Chip. I used some new goodies from My Favorite Things. The main image and sentiment are from "she's having a baby" set and the scallops are from "setting the stage". I used my Copics to color. Love that I can color my cheap ribbon to match! If you get a chance today you should try this color combo, I think it works with almost anything!

Birthday Wishes

Last week on SCS there was a challenge to use up scraps of paper. I loved this challenge! I have so much nice scrap laying around. Just strips of stuff here and there. Sewing on cards goes wonderfully with a vintage theme so I pulled out this stack of presents that I haven't used in quite a while. Colored with copic markers. The pp is My Mind's Eye (Tres Jolie). The background I used my very handy B-line design polka dot stamp. I inked in craft white then embossed in detail white powder. I dirtied up the edges with some Close to Cocoa Classic ink. The prima I colored with my copic to match my focal image.

Can you see I sewed around the outside of the focal image. You do this all the time in quilting when you want an applique piece to stand out.....so I thought it could work here too.

I got a TON of wonderful stamps from MFT yesterday....I get to play with them but can't show them to you quite yet. I will soon!!!!

Shopping Bag

We have some local talent here called "The Shopping Bags" they are two women based out of Vancouver that test a lot of different products and give us their best picks. This little Paper Salon Lady totally reminded me of them. I think she is so cute with all her parcels. I teamed her up with the new infuse pp from Basic Grey. The flourishes (Rhonna Farrer) are stamped in white craft ink. I sewed the different pieces down and ran some more of my chenille through my cuttlebug for my flower and topped off with a button. The sentiment and skinny oval stamps are A Muse. Happy Monday!

Create Art

Today's challenge on SCS was to put our sentiment inside the flower. Perfect timing, I wanted to "dust off" my pollen dust set(groan). This is all done using that Fancy Pants acrylic set. I used that old SU color (still one of my fav's) Rose Romance and did the rock and roll technique into close to cocoa ink. I stamped the sentiment with chocolate chip and then masked the flower and stamped the large flourish. Love the oversized ribbon and sewed that on. I didn't have any RR paper to match so I sponged on white to create the bottom scalloped edge. Fun Challenge.....now off to see what others did with this challenge! Have a great weekend!

Shabby Magnolia

I wanted to spend a little time playing with my copics. I haven't used this magenta stamp in a while and it is one of my favorites. It has a shabby chic look to me. I stamped my B-line design polka dots on the green in white craft ink and then embossed in white for dimension.

Cool tip: I took a scrap of chenille from my daughter's quilting scraps and ran it through my cuttlebug die. Worked great! This added the softness I was looking for.

A few finishing touches. The velvet ribbon. Distressed the whole thing with Tim Holtz vintage photo ink. Antique glaze on the flower. Pewter accents and I am quite pleased with the results. Love this flower!



Here is a close up of my flower. You can click on it and see it even closer....check out all my flaws. lol! I have found that I need to work quickly with the copics in order to have good blending. I usually keep the lids off so I can switch from one color to another without fiddling.

Vintage Baby

This is definitely a vintage flavor. I have some neat Mellisa Frances items that have been hiding in the back of my drawer. Today they were rediscovered! The "baby" stamp is A Muse and the velvet ribbon is some that I won with the CPS contest. The rest is from Mellisa Frances' line. This also works into Julee's blogger beach bingo layout. We are going for a blackout...that will take quite a few cards!

Color Challenge and Doggie Diva

This one was for today's color challenge over on SCS. Tough combo... Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, and Green Galore. That makes one bright combo! I decided these colors suited something fun and whimsical. The background is an Impress stamp embossed in white. The sentiment is Anna Griffin and the girl on the bike is Great Impressions. I tried to tie it all together with pewter accents. The MM "laugh" plaque and the standard brads in the corners and the micro brads in her wheels. Colored with copics. Yes, I used my cuttlebug too, to create the flower behind the sentiment.

I had some leftover Crate dp from the other day, so I thought it was the perfect colors to use my little A Muse stamp. The sentiment I created with Karen Foster snap stamps. This image I colored with prismas and blended with OMS. Scalloped scissors for the bottom and around my frame. Large Primas and the cutest little ribbon for the top. I also cut little holes into my scallop edge so the card wouldn't be too top heavy. Thanks for coming to look!

Sweet Wishes

I just love this little bear by A Muse. He has an outstretched arm which lends him to so many possibilities! Here he is doing a delicate balancing act with the A Muse cupcakes. I colored their icing with my copics and have little micro brads from my CPS win to embellish each one. The sentiment is created with Karen Foster snap stamps. The background was part of today's challenge on SCS. To use up scraps that you would otherwise toss. These skinny strips were just laying around so I sewed them together to create the funky look. MMMMmmmm. Makes me hungry.

Just Playin'

Just trying out my cuttlebug. Yes, I broke down and bought one. I was so pleased I could use a M's coupon on it. These swirls remind me of fancy curly flower stems. I colored in the ones I used as stems with a green copic marker. I used a cuttlebug die for the flowers and this wonderful Crate DP. Here you go.... a real quickie card. The colors lead more to fall so I will probably save it till then.

Coffee Chick

Had to post my weekend card a little early...too excited to wait. I think we can all relate to some extent this little scene. Drives me nuts when the kids (or hubby) go trouncing through the house in dirty shoes! I must say this doesn't happen very often....but when it does!!!

If you know your stamp sets well, which most of you do, you can see I altered quite a few of them to suit my purpose.

The Papertrey sentiment is originally "the right shoes" where I inserted "coffee" with my Karen Foster snap stamps.

The chicken is Penny Black, which originally holds a cell phone where I inserted a coffee cup from My Favorite Things. I tried one of the larger cups first....that did NOT look right (scale wise). So I used the cup from the square focal image of that set. Make sense???

The "oops" is Karen Foster snap stamps again. I covered it in a bubble as to make it look like the baby chicks' thought. The bubble was some packaging I saved from my Heidi Swap brads.

Stitched in pink to match her purse and cup. PP from my stash (old). Inked the edges to make it even more dirty. I had fun making this one....it was quite the process!

Polka Dot Parade

I did a dozen of these and they were a ton of fun to do! Loved using the polka dot theme. Start to finish they took me about 1 1/2 hours...not bad considering there is coloring and sewing involved. The flower/gift shops will be getting these this weekend.

Here is a close shot of the card. I used the Savvy banner stamp that was part of another set for the A Muse elephant to hold. I received this wonderful polka dot ribbon in some blog candy from Alli at Card Metaphors. I colored it with my copic to match the pink elephant theme. It is really quick and easy to do when you used the chissel end of the marker. The DP is from that mega stack of patterned paper from Costco. I drew in the patch of grass and both sentiments are A Muse.

My sewing machine went into overdrive on these. I did a dozen. Great cheap adhesive....these things will NEVER fall apart! Have a wonderful weekend! Go Lions Go! (for my hubby who is a huge BC Lions football fan!)

Ribbon Card Binding

The challenge today on SCS was to do something creative using ribbon. I thought it would be neat to bind a card similar to how you bind a book. I think it added an interesting touch. I used my Rubber Romance lady and colored her with my copics. The sentiment is by Papertrey. I added a little ribbon under the sentiment. Julee had sent me a card with this image and finished hers this way and I loved it! I am also loving the stack of Amy Butler DP! Hop on over to SCS and join in on the ribbon fun!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th to all my American friends! Out my way (close to the US border in Washington) the weather is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect day for a picnic. I wanted to use the star theme along with the American colors for this special birthday card. The stamps are MFT and my SU canvas BG stamp. I did some stitching in the "twine" color and added twine accents. The little star came off of an anklet I disassembled at the $ store. Colored with my copics. The star shape is cut with my colluzle, haven't used it in ages! Guess it pays to hang on to some things.

Summer Mum

Here is the new stamp I told you about yesterday....I just love it! It is by Savvy, who does some wonderful flowers. This one I thought complimented my Amy Butler paper very well. I colored the image with copics and even the brads to match. This sketch is based on one of Amy's super Sunday Sketches, I used this to play along with Julee's Blogger Bingo. I am no where near bingo but it is a lot of fun! I realized today's color challenge on SCS was Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive. Wouldn't you know it, this qualifies and I love this color combo. You can see details to this challenge HERE. I used the WW punch to anchor my corners. I love to stitch, my sewing machine is set up right across from my work table, very convenient! The "thanks" sentiment is Impress.
Someone loves the lazy summer days! Think she could lay on the nice manicured lawn? No...... she needs to lay in the middle of my flowers! She's so cute, it's hard to be mad.

Fresh Roasted

This card was inspired by today's challenge over on SCS. We were challenged to use something "unexpected" on our card. This fresh roasted tag is my unexpected item. I just love coloring with my new copics so I used MFT "hot stuff" image to go with my little tag. I also thought she should have some fun flowers on her dress to go with the DP I chose.
This is a little detail shot of the tag I used from my starbucks bag of beans. I inked the top with Chocolate chip craft ink and heat set to match the cardstock. The ribbon bow I tied and then glued it on the top, this way getting the perfect shaped bow I wanted.

Glad to be home from a fabulous weekend of fun. I did manage to pick up a wonderful stamp that I have been looking for.....I'll debut it tomorrow! MFT (link on my sidebar) also has the new little bios of the new design team members....hop on over and check it out! Happy Canada Day Weekend!

Lil Elephant

This is my entry for Julee's Blogger Bingo over at Poetic Artistry, what a fun game she has going there! Make sure to check out her blog HERE. My Lil elephant from "art gone wild" was the perfect image to use my "go for a walk" set from MFT! The only patterned paper is the stripe. The top half is the little circles bg colored in with my copics. I also needed to match the creamy base of the striped cs so I went over the white circles with "antique linen" distress ink by Tim Holtz. The party hat was perfect in scale and style to sit on top of my elephant's head. The sentiment is anchored with punched out circles colored with the copics I used in the top half. I also used my copics to color the ribbon to match my project..... Love that!

Scallops

Today's challenge on SCS was scallops! I love to use these and I wanted the chance to play with an image that I could gain a little more practice with my copics. I tried the shading and blending with these markers, I was very pleased with the results. The main trick is to do all the light coloring and highlights first then blend over with darker colors to hide the seams. I added to the scallops with the cute Paper Salon frame and sentiment.

On another "note"....I am going to see Norah Jones tonight! Any other Jazz buffs out there? Should be interesting, don't quite know what I think of her new album, it is slowly growing on me.
