Hooked on you....

I just love this new sentiment that is coming in Kim Hughes' "Go Fish" set this week. I thought I would use it in this repurposing project. This old kitchen hook needed a new look and I loved the little play on words with the "hook" idea.
This is very quick to make and adds such a "cute" factor to the kitchen.
The yummy patterned paper and chipboard is Cosmo Cricket's EARLY BIRD collection. LOVE the fresh vintage flavor it brings!
I colored up the little pot holder image from Kim Hughes' "Baked with Love" set....since it will be holding a pot holder. I colored it with copics and dotted it with my blender pen.
I also wanted to give this plaque the aged treatment. I sprayed E50 and Y21 on the edges with my airbrush system. Fast, permanent and easy!

Taylored Expressions Challenge #70!

It's cupcake friday, and another peek. Yes, this week has been soooo good playing with a bunch of new rubbah! If you scroll down you will see that I flipped the sketch on it's side and moved the little circle down into my image. It fit the crick of the mouses' neck perfectly!
Here are the deets:

Paper:

Accessories:
Copic Markers
Air Brush System (Copic)

Sentiment Sticker (Cosmo Cricket)

LinkI wanted to show you a close shot of the image. Yes, colored with copics. This image is going to be released NEXT FRIDAY at the farm. I think this one is quite versatile. You could apply "thank-you" sentiments as well as "best friends", "thinking of you" sentiments. It is quick to color as all the shading is already in the stamp. The only extra I did was to make the tap look more like metal by dabbing in color rather than smooth coloring.

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the cupcake crew came up with:
Stephanie Hargis: Steph's Stampin' Stuff
Vicki Chrisman: This Art that makes me Happy
Jami Sibley: More is More
Monika Davis: M.A.D. Stamper
Donna Baker: Serenity in Stamping
Jackie Pedro: The Scalloped Edge
Ana Wohlfahrt: Ink A Stamp
Lynn Mercurio: Stamperosity
The cupcake sampler this week is Gwen Snater....congrats Gwen...you can find her beautiful gallery HERE.

We have had unbelievably gorgeous weather here! Off to enjoy a little. Have a great weekend!

Copic Winners and a Sneak Peek!

I have FUN stuff to share with you today! First off.....look at this new sneak peek...
It has the cutest name (Go Fish) and this is a perfect accessory size set. It is really cute on it's own but if you already have "Ocean Friends" it is a fantastic add on to that! I used the wave stamp from ocean friends and the rest is from the new little Go Fish set.
When you ask???????
NEXT Thursday this set will be released at Cornish Heritage Farms.
Some cute little details on this card:

The buttons are to be bubbles. A perfect use for all those tiny buttons you get in an assorted package.
If you look really close I took my blender pen and dotted the fish (for scales) and then covered him with glossy accents.
I added some "pop" to the fishing line by going over it with my "pitch black" spica glitter pen.
And OH THE PAPER....perfect for a guy this is the "lil' man" set from Cosmo Cricket!

Now to the copic winners....These two ladies get to attend the Winnipeg event for FREE!!!!
Congrats and I will see you June 6th!
Linda Shewchuck & Gail Neduzak

Don't forget to pop by tomorrow....it is cupcake friday!

Buzzing with the CPS sketch

LinkCPS always puts together fun sketches to try and this was no exception. If you want to play along click on the link HERE. I used a brand new stamp (yes, this main image is one large stamp) for this card. I love how it is so many occasions all wrapped into one! The fun patterned paper you ask?.....EARLY BIRD by Cosmo Cricket. This stuff is totally mod vintage...love it!

Here is a close shot of the stamp. I wanted to show you how I softened the edges of my white card stock with the air brush. I used E50 around the edges.

Shine Brightly

A fun new astronomy set is coming to the Rummage Bin at Cornish Heritage Farms!
Somehow I associate astronomy with going to the public library and writing an essay....I must have done it for school. I used this fun library envelope and tag on my card today.
There is some copic marker work on this....although very subtle. It is taking my gray markers and outlining the telescope.

Here are all the card deets:
Stamps: Reach 4 the stars (Rummage Bin) by Cornish Heritage Farms Ink: Pebble Adirondack (Ranger) Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko) Paper: Library Card (Foundations Paper) Black (Prism) Accessories: Grungeboard Star (Tim Holtz) Silver Leafing Pen (Krylon) Eyelet (Making Memories) Ribbon (Basic Grey) Copic Markers Stitching

Pictured is my son and his piano teacher.....
Now for a little "proud momma moment"....I told you about my son with his piano festival....check out the hardware that is now on my mantle! There were 400 participants in the piano festival (introductory to ARCT) and Daniel recieved the most outstanding piece in the primary classes (intro to grade 2 piano)! He received the highest mark! He also won another bursary award that night.....yup, I was busting!

Have a great day!

Sunday Thoughts

This is not papercrafting related...but I found it so moving this morning that I had to share it. Grab a coffee (and some tissue) and listen to this woman's incredible testimony. I had to grab a few extra tissues as I understand the loss of someone deemed "too early to go" from cancer.
Hope you find encouragement (as I did) in her message and purpose.

HERE is the link
Source: deathisnotdying.com
Rachel's story is not unlike what thousands of women around the world have experienced. A diagnosis that changes a woman's life and inevitably takes from her what we consider to be most precious.

See you tomorrow for more papercrafting fun...

It is also CUPCAKE FRIDAY.....so with some more copic coloring goodness this sweet lil' bunny is offering up some love:

I changed the corner detail in the sketch to make it my own. The little heart was cut with the two smallest heart nestabilitie dies from felt. The felt WAS white....oh yes, I {heart} my air brush!
The frame was really fun to make. It is chipboard that I painted with Claudine Hellmuth's paint and then before it was dry I shook on my Martha Stewart Glitter.
Can you tell where my light source is in the image....it is coming from the top left corner. The front side of the bunny is highlighted with my custom BG10 marker and the back shaded side with W1,3 and 5. The sky is airbrushed too (BG13).

Cherish

This big and beautiful bloom is now released at the farm. You can find it HERE....isn't it purdy...
A few details on this card. I actually started with the label. The zig zag pattern on it was a theme I wanted to carry throughout the elements on this card. I used my pinking shears, the ribbon had that pattern, my zig zag stitching...you get the idea.
Here is a close shot of the bloom. I colored it with my copics, added some shimmer with my butter and mint spica glitter pens and then aged the edges with my air brush system and a W2 marker.
The crocheted flower I did myself (grin).

Vintage Flavor

Ready for some vintage yummy goodness? I made this card quick to play along in the sketch challenge over at SCS. Meanwhile.......a birthday cake is baking and it smells sooo good.
Maybe someone needs to kiss THIS cook? Hint, hint hubby...

Colored with copics. You can see that my light source is in the top right making the left side and bottom of my canisters darker. I used the Natural Smooth prism for this image...careful not to lay down TOO much ink or it will travel a bit on you.

Isn't this patterned paper great! I love the vintage flavor to it. It is from the Lil' Man collection by Cosmo Cricket (one of my FAV paper companies!)

Friend

Happy Tuesday! What a nice long weekend we had here in Canada....the weather cooperated for the most part. The sun is shining today and it put me in the mood to pull out my lil' garden gnome.
I paper pieced his hat and the rest of him I colored with my copics. I airbrushed a few clouds too.
I used the wonderful CPS sketch for this card. If you are ever in need of card sketch ideas...this is a wonderful place to find them.
The sketch inspired my "string o' buttons" along the bottom adding some more fun whimsy to the design.

Beautiful U!

I always find joy in combining my crafts...so this project fuses simple crochet, stamping and jewelery soldering. It does make a pretty little choker for those little black t-shirts I love to dress up.
Here is a close up of the soldered piece. The stamp is from the new set "Ornamental Beauty" over at Cornish Heritage Farms.
I colored the flowers with my copics, adding the shimmer factor with the colored spica glitter pens.
To soften the white and bring in a yellow color I airbrushed the edges and left the center more white to highlight.

Here is the full necklace photo taken in my studio. A simple button holds the back together and the flower/soldered charm is held by a brad. I stitched a few thread stitches to the back side to make sure my center piece was secure.

It is a BEAUTIFUL weekend here...hope it is for you too!

Taylored Expressions Challenge #68!

Happy Cupcake Friday! Today I wanted to use one of my all time favorite images from Cornish....Tulip Girl!
She is perfectly vintage, sweet, detailed and in my opinion on of the best stamps in the Saturday Evening Post line.
I took Taylor's sketch and flipped it this week...you know I had to do something or it wouldn't be me (giggle).
Who says you always need to stamp on white to color with your copics? No one....so here I am stamping on kraft and coloring with my markers. I did use my white prismacolor pencil for highlights on my tulips. Yes, that is one of my crocheted flowers you see as well. The suede brad that I had for this card wasn't quite the right shade.....so I airbrushed it to match too!
Here are all the deets:

A little aside... my son got first place in both his piano pieces! So today he plays in the "playoff" round for a chance at some really nice hardware (trophies and scholarships).

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your blog blurfing (I know I am looking forward to seeing what the girls came up with)!

Flower Talk

Chatting today about flowers....
Yesterday I got quite an overwhelming response with my little crocheted flowers. Lots of you e-mailed me or commented looking for a pattern.
To be honest, I sincerely "winged it". I started by watching a few tutorials on youtube. THIS ONE being my favorite. I was looking for the basic understanding in constructing a crocheted flower. I, however, wanted to use embroidery floss instead of yarn. I wanted my flowers to look a little "finer". In making a few attempts I also discovered that the more "double crochets" that you put in one section, the more "ruffled" your flower will look. I wanted some flat flowers too so I just decreased the amount of double crochet stitches.
There was my "pattern" process. I would be very bad at trying to write it out as I am not an experienced crochet artist and don't even know the proper terminology. Check out that youtube link though...if you know a few crochet stitches she is easy to follow along.
Thanks for all your kind comments, you now know what I am doing while I am sitting in a parking lot waiting to pick kids up!
Now some more flower chat. I made this card for my wonderful MIL and can finally show it to you! It is a new release coming next week! This is from the Shady Tree Studio Line and it is called "Large Bloom". Soooooo nice to color! The card isn't very busy, as I tried to just focus on that beautiful bloom. Colored with copics (of course).

Here is a close shot of the flower. It really shimmers in real life as I used the clear spica pen to go over the bloom and the leaf. I added some little pearls to the middle (that were white and I tinted with my markers).

Watch for this release MAY 20th!

They are done with embroidery floss and perfect for Here is my finished card for today's color challenge over on SCS.... Love that variegated floss on this flower.

One day at a time....

When I see this sentiment "one day at a time..." I always want to follow it up with "sweet Jesus"...and that has put the song in my brain for the day. Not a bad mantra though...
I had a lot of copic fun creating this card. I stamped the "sketched bird" first then I wanted to match up some patterned paper. I found this lovely stripe from Webster's Pages and thought it was a beautiful flower color combo. I colored my rubber silhouette stamp directly with my copics and then when I was done spritzed it with blending solution and stamped. Cool soft affect that I was going for. I colored the bird with my markers being careful not to get too bold as I was going for an overall subtle look.

Here is a close up of the flowers. I love that they are not outlined like stamping a stamp and then coloring in, but rather just splashes of color.
The sentiment is from a new Encouragement Expressions set that is due to be released THIS THURSDAY.

Here are the rest of my card details:
Stamps:
Sketched Bird (Shady Tree Studio), Silhouette Blooms I (Kim Hughes Collection), Encouragement Expressions (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms

Taylored Expressions Challenge #67!

Do you find you need lots of cards around wedding season? These little mini cards are great! Just by using my label 1 die from spellbinders I was able to make these fun shaped cards in minutes.....One of them uses the cupcake sketch for today...can you spot it?
Ah yes, this is the one. The only difference between it and the sketch is I didn't put the top panel at an angle (I wouldn't want my cake to fall over!)...lol.
I was obsessing a little over the fun details in this trio. Here for example you can see that there are jewels on all three cards linking them together. I loved when I stamped this silhouette image that you could still see the slight pattern of flowers through her dress.
I added splashes of color here and there with my copics....but it is really soft. I colored on the cake as well as these bells. I also airbrushed my flowers with a hint of BG10.
Here are all the deets for this trio:
Stamps:
I Thee Wed (Kim Hughes Collection) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)

Kool Deer Kraft

What a fun challenge over at Splitcoast today....hosted by the fabulous Julia. I just HAD to play along when I read the focus was Kraft card stock. I love using BOTH my copics and my pencils on kraft. I did my copic coloring first and then followed up with some highlighting with my pencils. A couple of the images are from the new "summer trees" set that is just being released TODAY! The clouds and the grass are from this fun new set.
Here is a close up of my glitterfied butterfly and the airbrushed prima flower. I love customizing my flowers. I wanted BOTH the green and blue in my flower and then I spotted it a little by dabbing my blender pen on it. Fun to play!

Stinkin' Cute

This is a fun little baby card I put together using the spellbinder blossom die as my base. I folded my patterned paper in half and then cut through both layers just missing one edge where the fold in my paper was to be the hinge for my card. This cute paper is from My Mind's Eye. The girls at Eclectic Paperie sent it out to me.....thanks Joy and Daisy!

Susan asked me yesterday how I did the pages on my journal. I measured the mid point on the page then scored 1/2" on both sides of that mark to make a spine. I lined up my eyelets from the cover and made holes in my pages and secured them with eyelets as well. The ribbon holds them all together. Hope that answers your question Susan...

Have a great day!

Reflecting

Wanna make a project with those cute rectangular coasters? Make your own little fabric journal. I just cut fabric pieces slightly larger than my coaster, sewed up 3 sides, slipped in my coaster and then zig-zagged my back opening. I stamped directly on fabric with brilliance ink. The tree is part of the new release that is this week by Kim Hughes! The tree is stamped on white and then cut out and colored with my copics. I zig-zagged it to my book to secure.

Here is a look at the spine of my journal. The front and back pieces were simply over lapped and then eyelets used to secure with ribbon.

Hope this inspires you to play with your fabric. Stamps and fabric.....what a lovely combination!

Taylored Expressions Challenge #66! And a video!

It's friday!!! One of the most fabulous days of the week!
I bought this beautiful patterned paper by cosmo cricket and fell in love with the rich oranges and grays. I thought I would make a sunset background to match the pretty orange in the paper.
I did a video to show you exactly how I made the airbrushed background for these birds. So keep scrolling......

Here are the card deets:
Stamps:
Tree Swallows (SOTM), Silhouette Blooms I (Kim Hughes Collection) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
London Fog Memento, Graphite Black Brilliance (Tsukineko)
Paper:
White, Black (Prism)
Ever After Patterned Paper (Cosmo Cricket)
Accessories:
Blender pen (copic)
Air Brush System (Copic)
Ribbon
Flower (Prima)
Button (Making Memories)
Twine

I just about forgot to tell you which colors I used for this sunset:
YR61,YR65,YR68, R24, W2, W4

I had to show you a quick close shot of one of my favorite details that I don't show in the video. I dabbed the breasts of the birds with my blender pen to add another dimension of depth to this image. See how the color is just pushed out of the way leaving behind a beautiful highlight...love that!
It is the end of April....don't miss out on this Stamp of the Month from Cornish. I have used these tree swallows A LOT and consider them "classics" in my stamp collection. You can find them at the store HERE.

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
