MFT Teaser!

You can see I am having lots of fun with this month's teasers from My Favorite Things. I GASPED when I received this darling new image and knew that I needed to reserve her for a special project. This is "Bee Yourself" from the Claire Kaey line.

Recycled bags and totes are so hot right now....I had this one in my studio that had quite an ugly black logo on the front. I decided to take some Michael Miller fabric and run it through my xyron with fabric adhesive and cover it up....just like you would do when altering a paper album.

The large felt branch is by prima....I just stuck it on. I had leftover of the fabric that I had added the sticker backing to, so I cut out a few flowers with MFT's newest die-namic called "Upsy Daisy Flower Builder". This die has three size flowers, coordinating centers and leaves!
I stamped my image in versacraft ink, heat setting it with my heat tool and then colored with my copic markers. I did a quick post-it note mask and airbrushed the background color to tie in the fabric. See the cute little flourish by the sentiment? That is from the Sassy and Sweet set that I showed you earlier this week.

Pillow Book Pocket

It is teaser time and you know what that means! It is getting close to the monthly release time at My Favorite Things! Here are a few details you should know about this month's release:
Teasers begin October 2nd and will happen every day until and including release day. You can find the list of designers for teasers each day at 11am EST on the MFT Blog.
The release party will be happening on the MFT Forums on October 6th beginning at 8pm EST (that is 5pm for us here in the pacific time zone).
Don't forget to check out our guest designer contest this month. You can find all that info in the forums HERE.
The big "Hop and Shop" day will be release day (October 6th) where you will be able to hop and see all the goodies on the designer's blogs and then do a "shop" the festivities will begin on the MFT blog.

Here is my peek at a new sentiment set for book lovers (CLEARLY SENTIMENTAL ABOUT BOOKS)...I am also giving you a peek at 2 of the new dies (POLKA DOT GREETINGS FRAMED DIE and ROLLED ROSE DIE).
Here is a close up of the pocket I created. This is from an old pair of jeans. I pieced together some of my favorite fabrics and then added a pocket to the front...perfect for books!
I Loooove this new rolled rose die with its' scalloped edges. I used some of the felt I have purchased from the MFT store and made a double bloom from it. So quick and easy for projects!

Blog Hop and Shop!

Welcome to the last stop of the hop! Whew! Seen lots of eye candy tonight? If you are on the hop you should have come here from Mel's blog....if you are just happening on my blog you will want to start from the beginning, that is Kim's blog.
For this hop I played with an adorable Pure Innocence girl....
I thought this image went really well with the ice cream cone die from Spellbinders. I stamped the PI girl in versacraft ink on this little onesie and colored her with my copics. Seeing that this is a 0-3 months onesie the little one who wears it will probably only wear it a few times before she out grows it. Copics do fine in the wash if it is an item that is only going to get washed periodically....they do fade after SEVERAL washings. I like to iron my item after I am done creating and that heat sets the image quite well.
Here is a close up of this sweet image. I still managed to do some shading/blending even though I was working on fabric. I think this would make a cute customized gift.....The die cuts of fabric I ran through my creatopia to apply fabric adhesive to the backside....NO SEWING!

My hubby was trying to feed my little baby nephew ice cream the other day...made me chuckle. Of course you aren't going to feed a tiny baby ice cream....but soon they will want a "double"!

Rock On

What a fun quick project this one was that I have to show you today. My daughter wanted a funky little case for her itouch and this worked perfectly! First of all the image.....this is from the pure innocence collection called "Tweeny Tween Rock On" from My Favorite Things!
A couple of Christmas' ago I made both my son and daughter large bean bags so this image totally reminds me of what I see when I walk into their rooms.
Here is a close shot of the image...I have had a few people ask me about ink for fabric. I use VERSACRAFT ink from Tsukineko for stamping my images and then heat set it with my iron. This image I stamped on canvas...so it is very textured. I colored it with my copics. Copic will fade over time in the wash...just like any other dye based ink so I try to stick to projects that I may occasionally throw in the wash but not wash daily.
I had fun with her bean bag chair. I "fabric pieced" it by stamping it on a scrap of my lining fabric and then cutting it out and running it through my creatopia to give a fabric adhesive to the backside (like a big sticker).
After I was done with my image I cut it out with my spellbinder die and added sticker backing to that as well.
The fabric is GORGEOUS Michael Miller corduroy! I didn't need to add cotton batting at all because the fabric was so thick....love it!
Here is a shot of it with the itouch tucked inside. I measured her itouch then added 1" in width for my cut out measurements and added a little extra length so that I could roll over the top to reveal the fun lining. Added a button and string to be able to secure it and it was done! My daughter loves it!

Fabric stamping

I know I am a little late getting this teaser up but it took a little more time than a card to create...but oh so fun! You can catch all the teasers today on Kim's Blog. I just love soft little books, wish I still had babies to play with these but I do have some little ones in my life I could share it with! How about a little softie book focusing on seasons? Yeah!
I used a combo of canvas and Michael Miller Fabric for this project....they look fabulous together!
Here is "WINTER"...using the "Flurry of Love" pure innocence girl with the new "Make the Date" set for all the sentiments in this book! I colored her with my copics and made a little felt snow pile under her feet.
Spring and Summer....these cutie pies are also being released tomorrow! They were perfect for my spring and summer seasons! Colored with copics to match the fabric colors.
I zig zaged up the middle of my book to secure then I hid those stitches with this pretty iron on felt ric rac.
How about apples for fall....This PI girl "Apple for you" was perfect for this season and I did a little chocolate brown felt under her feet.
Here is a shot of the back of the book. I made sure to catch my embroidery floss when sewing up the back flap...so that it can wrap around the little button to close.
The words in this "make the date" set are SO useful it made coming up with this idea quite easy...

Yeah Baby!

There is a wonderful vintage baby stamp set and sentiments that is being released tomorrow at CHF. One of my favorite things to do with baby themed projects is to make little gifts. These were plain onesies. I stamped the images on white cotton, colored them with copics and then ran them through my creatopia to get the fabric adhesive on them. I placed them directly on the onesie and then sewed around the edge for extra durability. The adhesive was SO nice because they stayed right in place and made it easy to stitch.

I also made that cute little strap for your key ring that you can hold your emergency soother onto. How often do you spend searching for a soother that has seemed to grow legs and walk away....

As for packaging....this was the clear bag that the onesies came in...I just dressed it up by cutting out a few more birds with my spellbinder dies and then more fabric adhesive and straight onto the bag! Easy Peasy.....

I LOVE that I can use my "Papercrafting" items for so much more than papercrafting!

Fall Fabric Card

Ah, the crispness of fall. Do you see all the texture in clothing that is out there this fall? I wanted to make a textural card using fabric today.

I was inspired by the plum color challenge over at Moxie Fab World...this is quite a cool plum (perfect for fall!)


No...I have not been able to put my creatopia away yet...and yes, the fabric adhesive cartridge is wonderful!
The only paper on this card is the card base, image and ribbon tag.
I took inspiration from my quilting and cut 5x1.5" strips of the grey and patterned fabric. I was able to run the felt base and my strips through my creatopia and place them on like a quilt block. I sewed the edges (just for decoration) and added one of "My Favorite Things" a coffee image!

Thanksgiving Photos and Fabric Project

I have a fun fabric project to show you today. This one is using the "Fruit Basket" and "Vegetable Harvest" sets from the Shady Tree Studio line at Cornish Heritage Farms. I made these tea towels and then stamped in Versacraft ink from Tsukineko. I colored the images with my copic markers. I used scraps of my Michael Miller Fabrics and tied the colors together with hot ribbon by Junko. I carry one of these along with me to certification events so you may have seen one up close.
Here is a closer shot of the stamping....the artichoke and the olive are my favorites!
We had a fabulous weekend with family and GORGEOUS thanksgiving weather! I posted some pictures if you are interested....keep scrolling.
The tradition lives on....early in the season Grandma is out in the pumpkin patch scratching the names of each grandchild into the pumpkins...as they grow the name scars over the pumpkin. We all LOVE that! These now sit at my front door....my most favorite of all our thanksgiving decor....Thanks Grandma!
Here is my son with his pumpkin. We could only bring one of his home, the other one stayed in the field...it was HUGE! Too heavy to bring home:)

Recycle, recycle....another stamped quilt

Do you have some old jeans and t-shirts kicking around? This quilt requires 5 pairs of old jeans and 10 old t-shirts. I made it for my hubby just before Christmas. You can see it with full instructions and sizes in the Aprils' edition of CRAFTS 'N THINGS!

I stamped all the alternating blocks of denim with the Fiery Floral Scrapblock....it has this wonderful urban grunge quality to it.

Here is another photo of it. I stamped in many different colors and tried to coordinate that with the old t-shirts I was using.
Quilts can easily cost HUNDREDS of dollars....this one didn't cost me a cent! My hubby and kids fight over it because it is large and lays nice and heavy against your body. Perfect to cozy up with!

Thanks for coming to look and I will get back to paper soon....you know I just can't stay away from fabric....it is a lot like patterned paper (very addictive!).

Baby Blessings

I shared last week that one of my close friends had a little baby girl. I was so excited as I had the perfect scraps left of beautiful material from Michael Miller to make a quilt! These scraps are from the "Ginger Blossom" collection.
Here is a close shot of my favorite part of the quilt. The "P" I traced a large chipboard letter onto my fabric, cut it out and zig zagged it into place. I finished her name with the alphabet stamps from the Kim Hughes collection. The little sheep and chick are stamped from Kim's "Sweet Spring" set as well. I colored in a little definition with my copics and added some grass ground cover.
I hope I am encouraging you to use your stamps for SO MUCH MORE than paper.
As for the pattern of the quilt. Well, I didn't follow one. I had a specific amount of fabric left in the different patterns so I drew out on a piece of paper how far each swatch would go and made my pattern accordingly.
Here is a shot of the full baby quilt. How fun it was to make something for such a special lil' bundle!

Fabric...just can't put it down!

Do you think I could put the fabric away?....no.... especially when today's Ways to use it challenge on SCS is to use fabric! Woohoo! I love putting my fabric through my die cut machine with the nesties and that is what I did here and also added a strip along the middle. I used the fun Michael Miller fabric that paired up really well with the Amy Butler Patterned Paper.
The fabric and the paper just scream spring so I thought the Kim Hughes' Sweet Spring would be a fabulous image addition.

Here is a close shot of the flower....how fun and funky! That little brad I picked up at Michael's the other day too.

Can you tell I love fabric?

Yes, that is fabric on my tree. I did the same thing you would do with paper piecing but used fabric instead. I stamped my tree on the fabric and cut it out and then to secure it to my card stock I stitched along my stamped line....what neat texture it brings to my tree!
This is a close shot so you can see that it is stitched on. I cut out my branches and just laid them over top to give it even more dimension.

Mushroom Village

So are you ready for some Monday whimsy? I thought this would be a fun way to start the week. I made these really fun pincushions out of old wooden thread spools. The mushroom tops are stuffed "yo-yo's". I stamped a few of my favorite wooded creatures on white fabric using brilliance ink and then colored them in with my copics.
I used my largest spellbinder circle dies to cut them out and then stuffed them to make my little mushroom village.
This would be a darling gift idea for someone who sews.

The joy of 6x6 rubber!

These fun little valentine goodie bags were all made from stamping scrapblocks onto 6"x6" plain pieces of fabric (an old sheet actually). A cute way to recycle. I did them by stamping with acrylic paint and then folding in half (right sides together) and sewing the bottom and up the side to make a little bag. Tied up with ribbon and a little tag and you have adorable little treat bags.
This project is in the February edition of Crafts 'n Things. The full instructions and details are in there.

More than paper

Have you had a chance to pick up the February edition of Crafts 'n Things? Today I'll show you one of my projects that is in there. You will find all the supplies and step by step instructions in this wonderful magazine. I love this publication because it shows of projects not only in the papercraft variety but also it inspires us to use our stamps for a WHOLE LOT MORE! I love that! From 3D paper projects, jewelry and my personal favorite...fabric!

I am sharing with you one of my favorite projects and yes, if you are wondering, the stamps are all Cornish Heritage Farms!








This is a full shot of a table runner I created. It has 6 central stamped panels that are framed by fabric and then surrounded by gorgeous patterned fabric.
A photo of all the panels. The trees I created to look a little funky and fresh. I do love the color scheme of grays and lavenders.
A very close detail shot. I even tied the little bird house on with some string.
Why not add a set of potholders too. While you are making 6 panels you might as well make 8 and have two potholders to make a lovely set.
I love to share with you my passion for fabric stamping....I love to make things for my home and for others that are entirely personal, you can't buy them anywhere. I just love the unique capabilities of that!

Urban Baby Couture

Need a personalized gift? How about these baby girl/boy gifts? The fabulous fabric is Michael Miller and I added a stamped panel to the front. This is from Kim Hughes' "Baby Love" set. The little baby bib image and the "got milk?" are my favorite! Another wonderful use for those copic markers. I thought this made a very hip bib duo.
They are so easy to make. I just drew out a shape of a bib on a piece of paper and used that for my pattern....the brown binding around the edge finishes them just like you would a quilt.


We all need baby gifts now and then, with adding stamping they are entirely original....LOVE THAT!

Love who you are!

I had fun jazzing up a little white t-shirt. Fabric stamping is so fun and addicting! It is really cool to make something so unique that no one else has.... This is a fun little mantra.

I stamped the large "Kissable Tree" in green paint mixed with a fabric medium. The owl and sentiments are stamped with coffee bean brilliance ink and then I used some ranger dimensional pearls to fill in the heart and the eyes of the owl. All stamps are from the Kim Hughes Collection at Cornish Heritage Farms.

Tomorrow is Scrapblock release day and I have a REALLY PRETTY card to show you! See you then!

Primitive Swag Tutorial

Happy Monday Everyone! I missed posting yesterday but I was just finishing up this project and was excited to share it with you!

I thought this made a really cute primitive swag you could hang from a mantle at Thanksgiving time. I know I have tons of stuff for Christmas on my mantle but admit it is a little bare other times of the year. These are so fun and quick to make....I'll show you how!.....
Fabric cutting is a BREEZE if you just run it all through your die cut machine! I ran these pieces of fabric through my little cuttlebug and they cut NO PROBLEM!
Here is a photo of the dies I used and the fabric that I cut. For this project I cut 8 pieces of patterned fabric, 4 pieces of plain fabric and 8 pieces of cotton batting (YES, you can run that through the cuttlebug too!)
Adirondacks new pigment ink line are very nice to stamp with on fabric. Here I stamped the sheep image from the RUMMAGE BIN at Cornish Heritage Farms. Did you know that next week you can purchase some SINGLE images from the very popular "Primitive Beginnings" set?!! Cool! You can buy them mounted or unmounted! The images in this swag are from the singles you can buy!
You can't do country unless you muddy up the edges a little. Copic's airbrush system was perfect for this. The markers are permenant ink and perfect for fabric, a few shots with the air gun and I had the country look I was going for!
Now to the sewing....no it's not that hard! The scalloped edges on the nestability dies act like pinking sheers that prevent you fabric from fraying, so all you have to do is sew down the image in place. This is straight line sewing girls!!!! Easy Peasy!
After I have sewn my image in place I flip it over (wrong side up), lay 2 pieces of the batting down and then use my secret weapon....FABRIC GLUE! This stuff is awesome! I put glue dots in the corners and a few at the sides then lay my top piece of fabric over it and press with my iron. This will heat set the glue, now when you go to sew the fabric will not move on you!

Sew the pieces together. I made my swag with 4 rectangles, but you could make as many as you wish. You could even clamp them together like a book and make a fun "softie" book for kids!

I used my crop-a-dile to make some holes in the top and set my eyelets so that I could string them together and attach some ribbon.

Hope this inspires you to do some stamping on fabric! So fun and easy and what a unique gift you can make!
