B Mine

Hi everybody....it is taking me a bit to get myself adjusted to another week. Last week was busy and emotional all at the same time.
I had the PLEASURE of teaching copic classes at Precious Memories. That store has a wonderful customer base as I met some of the SWEETEST women! Some of them even shared "life" stories that were wonderful to listen to.
Yesterday we had a family funeral as a close uncle to my husband had passed on to be with the Lord. A long and emotional day. Lots of family to see and visit with, needless to say this doesn't feel like a typical tuesday.

Anyway, while I refresh my studio I thought I would post this quick card. A little stamping but my patterned paper did most of the heavy lifting in this card. I created a vellum based card then stitched this patterned paper from Melissa Frances onto it.
Remembering that things are most eye appealing in "thirds" I grouped my pearls, frame and added the white stick pin for my "thirds" rule.
Here are the rest of the deets and I will be back tomorrow! Have a great day!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #84

Funny thing about this card...I am back to watching my calories a little (things have gotten away on me). So the only sweet indulgences right now are my cards.
I only have little scraps left of my "early bird" collection from Cosmo Cricket...I have used this paper line A LOT and don't want a single scrap to go to waste!
Let's see...how can I lick the chocolate coating off of this strawberry?
I used Taylor's "Cherries and Berries" set to create this card. I stamped the circle in red ink first and then stamped the strawberry in espresso ink. Colored it with my copics. I had the paper really wet with my markers and as you can see the color RED can very easily get away on you. It feathered ever so slightly beyond my stamped line. I used E50, R14, R27 for the strawberry and E31, E57, E49 for the chocolate. I shadowed with Yr31. I used my nestabilities to cut out the circle then airbrushed the entire thing with YR00.
But the part I wanted to "LICK" was the glossy accents glaze I put over my chocolate....yummm!
The crocheted flower is one of my creations and I customized the white lace with airbrushing as well.
I initially airbrushed it with my R27, but it turned out a little bright so I toned it down by airbrushing over top of it with my E15. Worked like a charm!

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.

Copic Classes for BC and Montreal!

I know I have been relatively quiet....and this is why....prepping for some fun copic classes this fall! This is a little peeky at what I have been working on. I teach two copic classes this coming up weekend in Langley at the fabulous Precious Memories!
We get to do three cards in each class....with some definite "keep moving" nudges from me (smiles). I will pack your brains with copic knowledge too (how to choose your colors, many techniques...basically everything that I can cram into 2 hours). The cards in each class are different too! I will be there at 10:30am and 2:00pm Saturday September 26th.

I am also thrilled to go to Montreal this fall. I will be doing copic certifications on November 21st and 22nd. I will also be doing some copic card classes while I am out there at Scrapbook Centrale. I have been chatting with Natalie and she is so delightful....I can't wait to get out there to see her staff and her store!

So that is what has been "up" with me...now that I have my samples done....back to cut, stamp and repeat (about 500 times for the images alone...no joke)! Good thing I love to stamp!

Looking forward to the weekend...hope to see you there!

Monday Morning Coffee

Good Monday morning to you! Today I wanted to show you my entry for the Moxie Fab World "Around the House" challenge. My mornings would not be right without my favorite brew!
Be sure to click on the link and go check out this challenge...you have till midnight tonight!
I made this card by taking a photo of my coffee machine and making it black and white. I added a tinge of blue to my cups by using my copic markers. The "My" letters are from a basic grey sticker sheet and they WERE green, so I colored them black to match (with my copics).
The paper you ask.....Mmmmm Jenni Bowlin goodness. I love this tangerine collection and the flowers reminded me of fall.
Another little detail is my ribbon...it was black with white polka dots....but this drew too much attention to the ribbon so I colored the white dots black with my marker.
My favorite little accent are these rub-ons by Melissa Frances. I used fragments to cover some of my favorite parts of the Jenni Bowlin paper then went over top with these rub-ons.

No stamping today....insert shocked face. It is nice to mix it up once and a while!
Go have a cuppa and enjoy your monday morning!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #83

Something fun and totally different from me today! Taylor made this really fun sketch that I just knew I had to do something "different". This is for my daughter's locker. She is in high school this year (grade 9) and I thought it would make her smile when she opened her locker.
The chipboard piece is from Crafty Secrets and I covered it with my new Melissa Frances paper.
I laid down a Tim Holtz mask and airbrushed the pattern in with my Y21 marker.
I did all the stitching and laying down my elements BEFORE adhering it to my chipboard piece.
I thought the stitching followed the sketch pretty well. The rest well.....

A couple of my favorite elements are this picture of Marie. I took it when we visited the Calgary Zoo this summer. I just resized it, printed it on my printer and then framed it! Take time to read the little rub on quote too....love that Dr. Suess!
Thanks for indulging me in a little bit of abstract thinking today in regards to the sketch! I sure had fun!

A Walk in the Woods

Yeah.....a much anticipated release is coming to CHF September 22nd! I have been waiting for this one to be released....why?...because I have been carting this stamp around to the classes that I teach and the copic certifications and everyone has been asking when they can get it! September 22nd!
This is clearly one of my favorites from the Sara England line at CHF. It is a dream to color! So much open space to let your creativity fly.
I love that the character can be a boy or a girl (depending on how you color the clothing). In this case mine is a little girl with a pink hat.

If you have classes coming up with me, you might very well be coloring in this image. If you have already HAD a class with me and are dying to post this image on your blog....you can now, as long as you put the release date in your post of September 22nd. Thank you for holding off posting yours till now!

Peeled Paint Video Tutorial

Lots to show you today. I have two posts already so don't miss scrolling down and seeing my previous post.
I paired up this fun "Sailing with my Dog" image with this fabulous Melissa Frances paper. I love this vintage paper and the glittery star too! I was going for a fun summer americana look.

Here is a close shot of the boat. Notice how I have a few colors going on and it looks like it has layers of paint....I did a little video (below) to show you how I did that with my copics. The sail I have shown you in a previous video on how to achieve that canvas look to your sail. You can view that video HERE.

Here are all my card details:

Something Sew Special

Yeah....a sewing set is hitting the farm this week! There are some really neat vintage images in this set. I used a couple of the images to stamp on my patterned paper to make a really fun background.
I swiped my heart die with some white paint before stamping my scissors...they showed up better that way. I also tied in the colors by airbrushing the edges with my copic markers. I love that I have so many colors to choose from when I am airbrushing!
A sewing card is not complete without a little stitching on it too!

Birthday Blessings

I have two friends that have birthdays right around mine....we always tease each other on who is the oldest and who is the "baby" even though our birthdays all fall with a couple months.
Tradition has been to go and pick the most beautiful bouquet of flowers from our gardens that we can find. My flowers were ok at the beginning of summer (for my first friend) but now I'm afraid they have been sun scorched and severely neglected. I can't give those!
So for "the baby" of our group I strayed from tradition and made her a necklace instead. A fun little summer one to wear with t-shirts.

Here is a close up of the image. I used a stamp from Taylor's "Cherries and Berries" set and colored it with my copics. I added her name using random letters from my rub-ons and then set them in this frame and glued into place using glossy accents.

I managed to get this quick photo before heading out to her party tonight....Happy Birthday Ang!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #82

It's Friday!!! Fun sketch time again....I love Taylor's sketches. They are fantastic "spring boards" for me creatively. My little bird is saying "sweetie pie" in this card. I loved making the paper interact with my image and sentiment. Love this fun paper from Cosmo Cricket....I guess they are my "black birds baked in a pie". Is that how the nursery rhyme goes?
The chipboard letters are actually from the "girl friday" collection, I love how they still matched this "earth love" collection!
One of my favorite details. That ribbon was just a white polkadot....I incorporated the colors of my card by coloring the dots randomly with my copic markers.

Quite the Pear

Ready for some "fresh and fruity"?
I love it when vintage is fun and bright, it gives it a really "fresh" appeal....
This is a fun new ATC set from Cornish called "Can It" and there are some great vintage images and pieces to this set. The pear in particular was GREAT to color with my copics!
I mixed together some fun patterns as well in my paper from Melissa Frances. I then brought some of the pink from my paper and airbrushed it on my pear layer. A few fun accents like ribbon and a button and a cute little tag was born....lickity split!
I was fortunate to have a friend over yesterday visiting and crafting with me....I think we did more visiting (it was time to catch up!). What a great day!

A Frozen Smile

I woke up this morning and there was a definite chill in the air.....yah!....Fall is coming! Perfect day to post a winter card (better than in the heat we had this summer). I thought this Kim Hughes snowman had the same fun personality as this paper from Cosmo Cricket...so I paired them together.
I paper pieced the cute little scarf and the ice hanging from frozen.
I used my copics to color the rest of the snowman....although he is white I added a touch of cool gray to make him look whiter.

Here are all the card details:

Little Bo Peep

The seasons turn again today...as my kids go back to school. They were so excited to go so that was nice. They miss their friends and I always remembered being excited to go back.
Today I went with a soft card, reminiscing one of my favorite mother goose nursery rhymes. I think this will make a cute baby card.
I used my new goodies from Melissa Frances for that lovely scalloped paper and the cute little rub-on.

This sweet little image is "Laura" from CHF. I colored her with my copics. R81 matching the patterned paper really well. I colored in a "loose" manner to mimic the "sketchy" look of the image.

Not much time to chat today as school is only a half day...off to the bus stop to pick up my kiddos and get filled in on all the excitement.
This is my daughter's first year in high school and my son's first day in middle school.....I'm looking forward to hearing an ear full!

Have a great day!

Note: This set is the same deeply etched rubber you have come to love! However, in order to cut down on manufacturing costs and donate more to charity, The Places You'll Go set will need to be trimmed when you receive it.

I really enjoyed pairing up this fun rocket image with the funky "boyfriend" paper from Cosmo Cricket. A few fun embellishments too....I color matched my paper frill (that was white) with my paper and airbrushed the clear jewel flourish and white felt stars as well.
Colored with.....you guessed it....copics! I love my hubby "to the moon and back" but I will admit my copics rank pretty high too...lol!

Today I get to show you a little peek of what is coming in the "winter trees" set from Kim Hughes at CHF! This set is due to be released next week Tuesday (Sept 8th).

This sly little fox is pelting the penguin with snowballs....but I have a feeling that the look in the eye of the penguin spells revenge of some sort! Isn't it funny when your card tells a story?!
I used the new paper from Cosmo Cricket....Jolly by Golly! I stamped the animals right on the patterned paper and then colored them a little with copics...just so they stand out from the paper.
