Sympathy

Thankfully, I do not need this card right now. I do find I like to make sympathy cards ahead of time, as they are hard to make when emotions are raw. This was for today's inspiration challenge on SCS. I used the reverse masking technique to create my oval background. I then stamped my Fancy Pants flourish and MSE sentiment. Topped off with K & Co pearls and a dragonfly brad. It created the softness that I was looking for. My fingers seem to always be full of ink these days. The look was completed using my MM distresser and then Distress ink on the edges. I inked up my ivory satin ribbon a little too. Enjoy your weekend. Happy Stamping!

Going Gray

No I'M not going gray (well maybe a little) but my card is! I love to use gray as my neutral, it is becoming a favorite of mine. I think it really allows color to jump off the page at you. These are fancy pants acrylic stamps, I love the selection I get in those large 12x12 sheets! This is "In the garden". Today's challenge on SCS was to use gray as your neutral so this was really fun for me.

Here is a little close up of the embellished portion of my card. I just love these little robin's nest pearls that I can color with my copics to fit my project! The velvet ribbon is just yummy and I like the hit of red to my tulips. I think this would make a nice anniversary card so I will probably do a bunch. A fairly simple layout helps facilitate this. I'm off to get some playing done with my new MFT stamps that arrived yesterday.....You're gonna LOVE EM'!

No Patterned Paper!

Shocking I know, it has been a little while since I haven't used patterned paper but today felt like a stampy day to me. This fun little pocket card I made for Julia's pocket challenge today over on SCS. I enjoyed all the different stamping that I did. I wanted more of a fall looking card so the colors I chose were Old Olive, Cranberry Crisp and More Mustard.

Here is a photo so you can see the little insert. I liked playing with the aquapainter for a change from copics. It is nice to have variety in coloring techniques. It definitely needed some "bling" to make it pop so I added glitter with my pen to the bouquet of flowers and a heidi swap jewel to my large flower. The sentiment is Flourishes and the other stamps are from Fancy Pants (in the garden) set. Have a great day!

Simple and Elegant

One of the shops I sell my cards in is quite a high end gift shop called Holly Hocks. The owner requested some congratulations cards that could be used for engagement as well. I thought simple and elegant would be the way to go. The frame and the butterfly are stamps in the new Fancy Pants acrylic set (in the garden). The sentiment is from the Flourishes sentiment set, I just love the font! Topped off with a spiral clip and some ribbon and I am done. I did a dozen to keep them stocked.
I received this RAK from Deb aka...stampin' granny! She won my blog candy and has sent me this wonderful bella beauty! Make sure you hop on over to her blog, just click on the link HERE.

This is an adorable RAK I received from the wonderful Beate! She is so sweet! I just love all the detail so well placed on this small card. There are so many fabulous things to look at. Make sure you visit her very popular blog at Fresh and Fun!

Home again, Home again!

How wonderful it is to be home again! There is nothing like coming home after a long string of hotels and camping to my own bed. I was just itching to catch up on all the missed fun while I was away. I bought this Fancy Pants set at Archivers while I was away and had to have it sit at the bottom of my suitcase for over a week! It just about killed me! I wanted to play with this new "in the garden" set and Beate's sketch challenge was the perfect way to play! Thanks Beate for a fun sketch. The patterned paper is Basic Grey (mellow).
Look who I had the pleasure of meeting for lunch! Taylor is as sweet and beautiful IRL as she is on her blog. I was so pleased we could meet and chat a little in person. She is in the throws of moving so I was delighted that she had some time to chit chat. So nice to meet fellow "tall" people and not have to shrink for a photo. Thanks again for the lunch treat Taylor! I'm sure you all know Taylor's blog, but if you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out HERE.

simple one layer

Here is a fun little trio of one layer cards. I love the combo of colors with a nice deep gray. The snowflakes are Stampin'Up the peas are Papertrey and the hearts are Hero Arts. I created the sentiments with my fun A Muse polka dot alphabet and the wonderful flourish is from Fancy Pants (pollen dust). Topped off with those wonderful row of dots from MFT (It's elemental). The white ribbon I colored with my gray copic marker to match and each card has a little extra embellishment. The snowflakes (rhinestones) The pea pods (glaze) and the hearts (silver string).

On a personal note, we are on our way home after spending a couple of wonderful days in Disneyland. Looking forward to my home and can't wait to play with some of my new goodies I have purchased and some that are waiting for me at home!
I will need a whole day just to catch up on my blog reading!

Make sure you check out my next post.... It will be My Favorite Things Sneak Peek!!!

Summer Bouquet

What are some of your favorite things about summer? Mine has to be the flowers and sprays of color that the summer months bring! I wanted to create a tapestry of flowers for today's SCS limited supply challenge. This is a spray of many different stamp companies that I colored with my copics. I love the difference in scale on this card between the flowers and the little (A Muse) girl picking them.
Here is a quick picture of some of the supplies I used. I picked all these stamps up this summer and love em' all! It is so fun to color them any color I see in my mind's eye. If I haven't sold you on copics yet you really need to take a close look at these fabulous markers, I haven't had artistic training, they just require a little practice and then they are really easy to use! Check at the awesome sets at My Favorite Things! Take time to smell the summer flowers today!

Late Night Challenge

Now I don't usually stay up and do late night stamping but my hubby went to watch the BC Lions game so I figured I could squeeze in tomorrow's challenge tonight! This was a toughie! We were challenged to make a monochromatic card without embellishments. No Ribbon?? No Brads??? Ack! Well this was my attempt. The wonderful flourishes are by Fancy Pants and the Love stamps are SU. I did faux stitching and paper piercing and some glaze. This was my result...now time for some shut eye! Night!

Create Art

Today's challenge on SCS was to put our sentiment inside the flower. Perfect timing, I wanted to "dust off" my pollen dust set(groan). This is all done using that Fancy Pants acrylic set. I used that old SU color (still one of my fav's) Rose Romance and did the rock and roll technique into close to cocoa ink. I stamped the sentiment with chocolate chip and then masked the flower and stamped the large flourish. Love the oversized ribbon and sewed that on. I didn't have any RR paper to match so I sponged on white to create the bottom scalloped edge. Fun Challenge.....now off to see what others did with this challenge! Have a great weekend!
