Chatting today about flowers....
Yesterday I got quite an overwhelming response with my little crocheted flowers. Lots of you e-mailed me or commented looking for a pattern.
To be honest, I sincerely "winged it". I started by watching a few tutorials on youtube. THIS ONE being my favorite. I was looking for the basic understanding in constructing a crocheted flower. I, however, wanted to use embroidery floss instead of yarn. I wanted my flowers to look a little "finer". In making a few attempts I also discovered that the more "double crochets" that you put in one section, the more "ruffled" your flower will look. I wanted some flat flowers too so I just decreased the amount of double crochet stitches.
There was my "pattern" process. I would be very bad at trying to write it out as I am not an experienced crochet artist and don't even know the proper terminology. Check out that youtube link though...if you know a few crochet stitches she is easy to follow along.
Thanks for all your kind comments, you now know what I am doing while I am sitting in a parking lot waiting to pick kids up!
Now some more flower chat. I made this card for my wonderful MIL and can finally show it to you! It is a new release coming next week! This is from the Shady Tree Studio Line and it is called "Large Bloom". Soooooo nice to color! The card isn't very busy, as I tried to just focus on that beautiful bloom. Colored with copics (of course).
Here is a close shot of the flower. It really shimmers in real life as I used the clear spica pen to go over the bloom and the leaf. I added some little pearls to the middle (that were white and I tinted with my markers).
Watch for this release MAY 20th!
Here are all my card deets:
Large Bloom (Shady Tree Studio), Mother's Day Centers (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Tuxedo Black memento (Tsukineko)
Vellum, Black, Simply Smooth White (Prism)
Weathervane (October Afternoon)
Spica Glitter Pens (Copic)
Circle Dies (Spellbinders)
Come back tomorrow....you know what day it is!
