The BIG Christmas Project

Hello....I'm back! Yes, things should now get back to normal after a wonderful Christmas break. I'm showing you today what totally monopolized my time in the weeks before Christmas. Last year my daughter asked for a bean bag chair for Christmas...I went looking and couldn't find anything that would match her room/style....so she didn't get one last year. This year she was still asking for the same thing (a rarity). An idea sprouted....this turned into a HUGE family project. Each of my siblings was going to make them for their children and we would have a big "bean bag extravaganza" at my home for Christmas. I made two, one for my daughter and one for my son. I am showing you my daughter's because I "customized" hers with stamping.
Here is the shot in her bedroom. I made her the quilt a couple of years ago and I wanted the chair to match in her pretty room.
A top view. This is six large panels sewn together. A circle at the top and bottom. These also have linings that are assembled the same way. Zipper enclosures on the bottom so that I can wash the outer and a zipper to the liner so that I can refill some stuffing after it compacts a little. I used heavy weight fabric and thread as well.
Who can resist Kim Hughes' "Little Gal" set from Cornish Heritage Farms. I stamped some of my daughter's favorite images all over the fabric before I assembled it. I used a combination of brilliance and adirondack pigment inks.

This was such a fun gift! My kids loving hauling them down the stairs for movie night! My son often is in his chair playing his DS (nintendo) and my daughter listening to her Ipod.

I finally get some crafting time today....so I am off to play!
I certainly missed blogging and am happy to be back at it!

Looks like you found a space for it, that's good! Glad it sounds like your kids are enjoying them as much as mine. Cherith thanks me daily for making them "they are so comfy". Makes it worthwhile. Now Alvin wants one. hah hah, good luck!
