Inspired by Flowers

Welcome to day 2 of the MFT teasers. This is a peek at the new set "Inspired by Flowers (set 3)". I wanted a very clean design so that I could let this pretty bloom take center stage. I colored it with my copic markers and airbrushed the background.
I embossed the "high tea party doily" to add interest to my white card base. I love the pretty bold sentiments in this set...they certainly balance out the weight of the pretty images. I've always loved water lilies!
Here is a close up of the flower....I went over it with some colored spica pens....for some sparkle!

BOO!

Today marks the beginning of the My Favorite Things teasers for this month....and guess what? I have a weeks worth of posts to show you over the next 7 days! You thought August was quiet for me? I was furiously creating all these samples but couldn't start showing them til today!

This is another look at the newest "Who's that girl" stamp set. This is "Who's that Mummy"! I made quite a grungy looking card earlier this month so today is a very clean and cute look. I used doodlebug papers and then HAD to use one of the new die-namics being released this month called "Woodgrain Fence". SO CUTE!

I used a current die-namic "Say What" for the sentiment.
A quick look at the inside of the card shows how fun it is to cut that cute fence from patterned paper and another sentiment from this set!

Creative Chat

MFT has come up with a new monthly feature and we think it's something you'll really enjoy. The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Chat is a new monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative spaces and share valuable organizational methods, tools, and shopping strategies with you. You'll be able to peek into our creative spaces, ask questions, and share your own ideas in the MFT forum.  This month, we were asked the following questions:
How do you store and organize your Die-namics?
Any fun or helpful Die-namics purchasing strategies you'd like to share?
How do you store extra Die-namics die-cuts?
Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge and get ready to delve into the minds of our creative team!
So here is a peek at how I store my Die-namics. These are magnetic knife holders from the kitchen department at Ikea. I wanted something that I could readily see in my room and yet still be out of the way so that I am not constantly having to move them on my desk.
As you can see from this photo I have several dies stacked on top of one another. These magnets are SUPER strong.
I keep one section reserved on my holder for the new releases of the month....this helps me keep organized.
When I receive my die-namics I make sure to label them. This makes life A LOT easier when I am doing a blog post. I am not searching for the names of the dies.
This is how I store all my decorative edge die-namics. It is simple and easy to flip through.
All those tiny pieces.....here is a little tray that I have been keeping for those. It is still a work in progress but I am looking forward to hopping around to the other design team members posts to see what they do. I am sure they have some fantastic ideas too!

Did you see the newest intermediate copic certification class? October 22nd there will be an Intermediate class in Langley, BC!
This is a great location for an intermediate class as just across the freeway are some fantastic stamp and scrapbook stores to take in on class breaks!
Thought you should know. CLICK HERE for the application downloads and information.

Looking for an Intermediate class in Eastern Canada.....there is still time to sign up for the one in Ottawa September 17th!

Would love to see you.....

A little copic fun I had with my daughter....helping her decorate some school binders....(I colored Rapunzel....which was fun as she fit on a full 8.5x11 sheet of paper). My daughter colored the scene with Flynn Rider.

You're too sweet!

Happy Monday! First of all I would like to thank all of you who left sweet birthday messages on my facebook page....the kind words were so nice! So.....in honor of that "sweetness" I decided to pull out a retired set from MFT that is still one of my favorites....so if you have this set...lucky you!
I colored up the little lime wedge on the card using a YG21, YG93 copic color combo (I quite like it).
I have seen these adorable felt coasters all over ebay and etsy so I decided to make a few for myself....
If you look close you will recognize that I used the Banner Day Die from My Favorite Things for the fruit wedges....so much easier than cutting perfect triangles myself! I hand stitched some embroidery floss and then blanket stitched the edge as I used 2 circles for each coaster to give it a little more weight.
Here is some pure handmade sweetness. My kids and my niece blessed me with some handmade cards for my birthday....these I truly treasure!

I am totally looking forward to the end of this week where I can start sharing some new stamp release teasers with you....and some other neat posts coming your way this week too! Until then :)

Sketch Time!

Welcome to Sketch Challenge Wednesdays! Today I put together more of a scrappy feeling of a card with the "oh so elegant" papers of the 5th avenue collection from Melissa Frances.
I used the set "Own Your Story" from My Favorite Things. Do you spot a sweet little die cut there too? It is the "Open Scallop Doily Duo"....say that 5 times fast!

A quick little peek at the inside with just a couple of simple stamps and it is prettified!

Here is a look at the sketch....if you are uploading to SCS then be sure to include "MFTWSC33" in your keywords so we can check it out!

Looking for more inspiration! Check out the design team samples too....the full list is on Kim's blog

Enjoy your day!

VIP Blog hop and Shop

Lots to share with you tonight! Here is my card with the newest "Who's that Girl?" from My Favorite Things. This is "Who's that Mummy?". How fun as we are thinking about fall.... I wanted to make a mummy wrap for my card to mimic the image so I decided to take photos along the way.....Here is my process:
I make my own little shimmer mists by using copic refill, blender and some mica powder.
I spritzed my twill tape in a non-precise way. This makes splotches here and there. It dries super quick because it is alcohol ink....love that!
I wrapped it around my card and tied it in a knot.
I continued wrapping and secured with a piece of scotch tape.
I finished the inside so that it would look tidy by laying a piece of patterned paper over top. This also adds extra stability to the card. Next I colored up my image.....here is how I did it:
 Base tone....leaving large sections white.
 Mid tone
 Deepest tone
I went back and blended with my E40 and then faded to white with my blender pen.
 Background base tone.
Mid and Deep tone, then I blended with YR01 and YR12.
 Floor base tone.
Mid and deep tones and then blended.
This image is the perfect size for this "Tag you're it" Die-namic.
I wanted to stain up my card a little more so I distressed with concord ink.
I used the new die that comes with the VIP kit to make my felt flower. It cuts thick felt like buttah!
Here is a look at the VIP kit.....and now I am sending you off for some more inspiration.

Check out Barbara's Blog for some more spookiness!

Wednesday Sketch Time with MFT!

Are you ready to play along with another Wednesday My Favorite Things sketch? I got a chance to play this week....if you visited my blog yesterday you saw the video of my copic coloring on this "Make a Splash" image. You can view the video in this post.

I paired up the sweet sunshiny image with the "This and That" collection from Lily Bee Designs.
A few fun Die-namics that I used on the outside and inside of this card:
Perfect Bracket Edge
Sunshine
Textile Rectangle
Here is a little peek at the inside too. I just stamped the bottom part of the image and used the textile rectangle on its' side.
Here is a look at the sketch....if you are uploading to SCS then be sure to include "MFTWSC32" in your keywords so we can check it out!

Looking for more inspiration! Check out the design team samples too....the full list is on Kim's blog

Copic coloring video and certification news

Today is a little video to show how I often color the skin when I am coloring Pure Innocence images from My Favorite Things. It is done in "real time" so you can hear me babble while I color (grin).

This is a little peek at the main image for my sketch card that will be posted on Wednesday it is "Make a Splash", make sure you come back on Wednesday to see the completed card!

In other news.....did you hear that copic certifications are coming to Hawaii?!!!! I would say that would be a good excuse for a little vacation. The Standard certifications are being held November 4th and 5th and the Intermediate certification on November 6th! Be sure to get your applications in early. Click HERE for those details.

For those of us in Canada....there is room in the upcoming Standard and Intermediate classes for Ottawa September 17th and September 18th. You can download the applications here. Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Be sure to check out the rest of the upcoming classes HERE!

Ticket Fun!

Ok....someone PLEASE tell me where this week went! We finally received some much wanted summer weather and somehow the week just slipped by.....ahhhhh summer you have been missed!

I just love the vintage reminder of movie ticket stubs....this new set from My Favorite Things is so fun and has a coordinating ticket die-namic die to go with it! It is called "Just the Ticket", it was just released this week and I haven't had a chance to show it off yet!

I used a bunch of different pigment inks to play with all the fun pieces of this set. Stamped all on kraft card stock and then paired up with some fabulous 5th Avenue papers from Melissa Frances!

If you look close you may also spot another couple of Die-namics:
Fancy Flourish (looks like it is out of stock right now but will be back soon) and Hearts a Plenty (which I cut out of felt).

No waste on this card....check out the inside. I used the scrap piece of Kraft card stock that I cut with my die for the inside. A few more stamps from the set and now the inside is cute too!

Enjoy your weekend!

MFT Blog Hop and Shop!

Welcome to the My Favorite Things blog hop and shop event! I have had a lot of fun this past week showing you all the upcoming goodies for the release tonight.

I have quite a special card to show you tonight....Do you ever find it really hard to make sympathy cards when you need them? I really do, so it is nice to have a stash going and the "Clearly Sentimental about Sympathy" set has REALLY GREAT sentiments! I paired it up with another release this month "Inspired by The Beach". I really let my copic airbrush system do the work on this card. It is one layer with a brown card stock frame popped up over top.

I just used a post it note to mask off a horizon line and a little circle punch to mask off a sun, then I sprayed the sunset portion using Y21,YR14, YR18.
I flipped my mask around and sprayed the water portion while loosely covering the sand and chairs with post it notes. I used B00,B02,B34,B37. The water gets gradually darker towards the horizon line. I airbrushed the sand with the E40's and colored the adirondack chairs with the E30's.
The stamped shell and sentiment are on the inside of this card.....like I said.....beautiful sentiments in this sympathy set.

Now I will send you on your way to Karen's Blog!  I just LOOOVE her style and I'm sure she has something neat to see! Enjoy the hop!
