MFT teaser time!

I must say....I have had a lot of fun this month playing with the new die-namic dies and stamp sets from MFT! This "Tag you're it" set is the BEST!
It has been jam making season here and so this set is perfect for decorating up a jar for gift giving.....who doesn't like a jar of homemade strawberry jam!
I used the die to cut into my bag to create a window. I just used some clear acetate (actually packaging that I had thrown in my trash) and some patterned paper from Melissa Frances' 5th Avenue collection.
I used the largest doily die-namic to cover my lid of my jar and strung some twine through the holes for accent.
Here is a close up of the tag. I used the smaller of the two doilies for the tag and then stamped in a bunch of fun colors!

MFT teaser time!

It is Pure Innocence teaser day at My Favorite Things! I have a special little fabric project for today! Here is the little tutorial so you can follow me along!

I started with an old hankie...this one has a large stain in the other corner so it was perfect to cut apart!
To stamp my image on fabric I always reach for versacraft ink by Tsukineko.
I trimmed a little closer to my image with a straight edge and a rotary cutter. Makes for quick cutting!
Here are the copic marker colors I used on my fabric. If you have been to one of my copic certifications you will have seen in real life how to color on fabric. If you have never colored on fabric before....try it out on a little piece of scrap first. Fabric acts very differently than paper!
Using this FABULOUS new Die-namic die that is being released this month I cut out a couple pieces of batting and created a window in my kraft card stock.
I centered my image under my card stock window and trimmed off any excess fabric.
I placed my two layers of batting under my fabric so that I created a nice plush front. Then I stitched it in place to my card base.

MFT teaser time!

Notice something a little different this month? The "a la modes" are being released in with the regular releases now from My Favorite Things! This is "I spy". I was totally inspired by that magnifying glass shape that I made my own. A little bit of "out of the box" cutting was required as I only wanted a portion of her in the circle.
I used the picket fence collection from Lily Bee and paper pieced her dress. The rest of her I colored with my copic markers and airbrushed the rim of my circle with BG11 to give the glass a bit of color.
Here is a peek at the inside of the card. Using a couple of great die-namics:
File Tab
Perfect Bracket Edge

MFT Teaser Time!

Welcome to day one of the My Favorite Things teasers! I have a really fun card to show you with the new set "By the numbers" and the die-namics die set that sells with it! How often do you need a specific number? I think I will be reaching for these sets a lot!
I used the Upcycle collection by Cosmo Cricket to make this very fun card for my friend. Actually all 3 of us girls are turning this magical age in the next few months so this was fun to mark the occasion.
I am showing you this close up because I die cut the numbers twice and then stacked them together to give them a little more dimension. Here is a peek at the set with the die-namics dies......
If you look really close you can see this sweet little border on the bottom of my card too!

Pucker Up!

Our lemonade weather seems to have vanished.....did we scare it away? We had a beautiful glimpse of summer on the weekend....
Just because it may not be summer on the outside doesn't mean it can't be summer in my studio! Another darling MFT image "Pucker Up" and I love that sentiment!

I paired this cutie up with some "Upcycle" paper from Cosmo Cricket. I first stamped my image on X-press it blending card paper with tuxedo black memento ink and then colored her up with my copics. If you click on the photo you may get a bit better look at the coloring.

If you look really close you can see that I also embossed the "high tea doily" die-namic on the pink patterned paper. It looks like that particular die is out of stock right now....I'm sure it will return shortly.

Finished up with some twill tape and a cute lemon button. Here is wishing for some sweet lemonade days ahead!

Upcoming Copic Classes

I just love the relaxed time of summer. It is nice not making daily runs to school and I find summer as the time of year that I can do "different" things. Here is a little look at some thing that I have been playing with in my sketch book. I took this shot of a hummingbird in spring and used it to help me with proportions and shape. I am looking forward to coloring it!

Speaking of coloring....have you noticed that there is BOTH an intermediate and standard copic class coming to Ottawa in September! Perfect timing after summer is done and kids are settled back into school. Click HERE for the complete list of copic classes running in the near future. Applications are now being accepted to the Ottawa classes.

I will also be running an intermediate class in Langley, BC October 22nd. Applications have not gone out for that yet but I wanted to let you know so that you can plan ahead.
You will have noticed that my posts have been less lately, I like to slow down over the summer as I am sure you do too. It also gives me a change to recharge my creative juices. Don't worry, I am still here....just taking a little more time with my family and enjoying the season.....

Here is another hummingbird picture for your enjoyment:

Welcome to the VIP shop and hop event for My Favorite Things.....as always we are showing off the newest "Who's That Girl" and this month it is "Sunflower Who's That Girl?". This month is EXTRA special because of CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) that is going on right now in Chicago.
To take advantage of all the special treats you can read the details at the bottom on my post. Right now I am going to chat about the card I made!

The lovely paper was my color inspiration for this card. It is the "sweetness" collection by Pink Paisley. I stamped my image on X-press it Blending card and colored with my copics. I cut out the image with a circle die and then mounted it on my patterned paper. The sentiment was done on white paper as well which I colored with my copics and used my colorless blender to make polka dots (to mimic the patterned paper). A little bit of lace at the bottom to finish it off.....

Sunflower Who's that Girl stamp set
Sunflower Sentiments mini (VIP exclusive stamp set - will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE)

Lady

Little girl playing dress up.....we do this our whole lives, don't we.....
This is a sweet new image from My Favorite Things called "Always Wear a Smile". This stamp set comes with a dressing table image as well. I decided just to use the Jolinne image for this card.

I colored her up with my copics. The dress is on of my favorite pink combos right now....RV00,63,55,66. I cut her out with an oval spellbinder die after doing a little out of the box cutting of her hair and skirt.

A pretty girl like this needed some very pretty paper and there is nothing more girly than the 5th avenue collection by Melissa Frances. I trimmed her off with some of my favorite Melissa Frances accessories as well......the resin frame, the lace trim, pearls and rub-on sentiment.

To add just a little more decoration to the card I sewed the edges and used my perfect bracket edge Die-namic for the patterned paper.

Have a LOVELY weekend!

Sew Nifty!

How about some sewing inspired fun! This is a clean and simple card using some of my favorite things from the last MFT release!
I love this new file folder Die-namic, it is so quick to cut out and use up my little scraps of paper that are kicking around.

I could play with this "Sew Nifty stamp and die set" forever! So many possibilities. I used versamark ink for the sewing machine so that it is really subtle. I also used bits and pieces of the sentiments in the set to create my own unique sentiment.

Lastly aren't these little scissors darling?! This is something where I  definitely need a die. To get something this small to cut so clean, the scissors also have a little loop at the top (where my brad is poking through).
Here is a peek at the inside. Finished off with the little open scallop border die-namic and the thimble from the sew nifty set.

Congrats....but not for me....

Part of submitting to things is accepting rejection. I never would have had a chance at the Paper Craft Idol contest if I wouldn't have submitted....right? So....here is my "reject" although I personally love this cheery card.

Congrats to the 20 that made the finals from over 1600 entries!

I made this card with one of the newest Pure Innocence girls from My Favorite things called "Aim High". There is a kite you can stamp with this set but I preferred to make my kite using the "Fly a Kite" Die-namic die.

I used some pretty picket fence paper from Lily Bee and then added my own twine for the string. I colored with my copic markers. The little clouds are the "Flat Bottom Clouds" Die-namic. I cut them out of my card front and then popped up the card front on a white card base.

Make sure you check out my copic coloring guide book blog hop and enter for your chance to win an autographed copy here.

Our family has a full weekend planned....I will hopefully have some pictures to tell you all about it next week! Enjoy your weekend!

MFT Blog Hop and Shop!

Release day is here! I am sure you have been really inspired thus far on the hop.....if you are a regular visitor to my blog you will want to start at the beginning of the hop....Kim's Blog!
I am very pleased to show off the set "Inspired by Summer" by My Favorite Things.
This image was stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with clear detail powder. My copic airbrush system went to work to create the color. I went over the tire swing with my black multiliner pen and then sewed the finished image to some Lily Bee patterned paper.

More inspiration is ahead of you....WENDY is next on the hop and she is so delightful (I got to spend time with her in person) so I am sure her project is equally as delightful! Enjoy!

MFT Teaser Time!

One of the best days of an MFT teaser week is Pure Innocence Day! Today I am showing you "Sweet Greetings". I loved her cute little striped pants so I decided to paper piece them with the Lily Bee paper I have on my desk. I colored the rest of her using my copic markers and boy did I have fun with her cotton candy!
Here is a really close look at that cotton candy! I used lavender distress stickles underneath to act as my glue but also for a bit of extra color....then while wet I covered it with lavender fun flock. It is so cute and puffy....good enough to eat!
Here is a peek at the inside.....don't you love the new ticket border Die-namic being released! I love it! I imagine it is her wad of tickets she is holding at the fair....

MFT Teaser Time!

How about a VERY clean and simple card for the peek at the set "Sew Nifty"! There is a Die-namics set that is being released with this stamp set....and I fell in love with this dress form!
I debossed it on my card front (photos of this being done can be found in the tutorial in this post).
I then stamped my dress form image in memento ink and colored it with my R81,83 copic markers.
I drew in the black border with my copic multiliner size 0.3, stamped the sentiment and added the button!
A quick look at the inside shows you some more sentiments in the set as well as a cute thread image.
