Here is a close shot of the coloring. I colored it with my copic markers I imagined my light source to be in the top right hand corner so I shaded with my markers accordingly. Here are all the funky mushroom deets:

Fall Sheltering Tree

Hi everyone! I wanted to show you this picture first because it shows my favorite part of this whole card!
This Kinkade tree is meant to be more of a spring time purple color (according to the label) but today I felt the fall breeze in the air and went with a fall theme. I love the harvest reds that we see out here in BC!
One other little touch that you might not see in the large photo is that after coloring my images with my copic markers I went over this tree with the clear spica glitter pen by copic as well. The tree just SHIMMERS!
Here is the full card, it is for today's sketch challenge on SCS. Here are the complete card deets:
Stamps:
Streams of Living Water (Thomas Kinkade) by Cornish Heritage Farms

Chugga-Chugga

Thomas is in my house.....again! My kids are a little older but they just LOVED Thomas when they were preschoolers but now I am at the stage where I have a lots of nephews and other little boys I know that adore this stuff too! This was for my nephew's party that was on the weekend and I snapped a quick photo before it went out the door.
I loved that I could make some quick wrapping paper to match my card. The images in the Thomas line are fun to color. I can imagine young boys and girls using the stamp themselves to create birthday cards for cousins and friends or even just to color.
You can see the whole Thomas line HERE.

And what is in the package? Thomas trains and DVD's of coarse....I was working with a theme here......

Happy Monday!

Birthday Play

Guess what I get to do on my birthday! Stamp! Here is a fun card that I came up with as I played with Kim Hughes new patterned paper. Her wonderful new paper line is making it's debut tomorrow at Cornish Heritage Farms. This set is called "Mocha Chica" and it suits the style of Kim's stamps soooo well!
I wanted to play a little game of "Can you spot the stamps?" I used two...... Here are the card deets that will give you a hint:
Stamps:
Pindot (Scrapblocks), The Landing Pad (Kim Hughes) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Latte, Pool Adirondack Dye Ink (Ranger)
Paper:
Mocha Chica (Kim Hughes Collection) by Cornish Heritage Farms (to be released tomorrow)
Accessories:
Jewels, brad (Heidi Swapp)
Flowers (Prima)
Grungeboard Heart
Pink Paint (Golden)
Chipboard frame (Crafty Secrets)

I love doing these tall cards, it lets me focus on clustering a group of images. This is something that I have been working on more as it doesn't come as naturally to me. I tend to spread everything out and make it look symmetrical...which isn't alway as effective. Fun to shake things up a little.
Enjoy your day and have some birthday cake with me! I think I may be having some cheesecake!

Holly-Day House

Good morning and happy Kritter release day to you! Yup, these little birdies in their holly house are released today at Cornish Heritage Farms. I colored this image with copic markers and then made a quick little mask out of scratch paper and sponged the background in aqua ink. I ran it through my CB with a heart die cut and then it dawned on me that the little house looks like it has the woodgrain running it. Perfect! I have a backgrounder that matches that!
I tried to lay my elements out a little differently and was pleased.....

Thomas Kinkade Paper Released!

The new Thomas Kinkade papers are here! I promised you a look at the Masculine series today, so here it is. I wanted to give you a really close shot because I wanted to show you that they are a lot more than simply a print.... Look at all the distressing and etching on this image, I think it adds an authentic aged quality to this image. You know me, I love all things roughed up a little!
I chose these words from a new set of petites in the Mona Lisa Moments line called "everyday petites". This line is being released on Thursday.
Here are the card details:

For anyone who is a little unsure of stamping with the Kinkades this is a wonderful alternative. It is all done for you! For those of you who already own Kinkade stamps....these are a wonderful addition! There are lots of patterned paper solids (like the brown and the blue that you see in this card) to go with your Kinkade stamps. I know I will probably be through these packs in no time! I hope you enjoy your day to....

Thomas Kinkade Paper

Yes, sometimes it is all about the pretty package things come in! This was so quick and inexpensive to create! This is just a peek at the NEW THOMAS KINKADE PAPERS that are being released tomorrow! There are two packages (this is the Christmas Series) and they are in that wonderful 8x8 size. All I did on these was add the TK sentiments and a little snowflake and the rest the paper did.
Here is a shot so you can see my box a little better. I thought this would make a lovely teacher gift or a gift to bring to a Christmas hostess. You could line the bottom of the box with scented tealights or fill it with your own decorative cards.
The box was a $1 at my dollar store! Now that is cheap (but pretty) packaging!
Here are the supplies I used:
Stamps:
Sentiments (Thomas Kinkade) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Paper:
Christmas Series (Thomas Kinkade) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Accessories:
Antique Linen Distress Ink (Ranger)
Latte Adirondack dye ink (Ranger)
Snow Cap Paint Dauber (Ranger)
Satin Ribbon
Snowflake Jewel
Corner Rounder (Marvy)

I'll be back tomorrow to show you something from the Masculine Series!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 28!

It is cupcake challenge time again! I have something sweet for you today. It isn't a cupcake but who wouldn't want to lick this yummy sucker! I had to show you a close up of this shimmery sucker from the "sweet thang" set by CHF. I applied glaze accents (Ranger) on the red portion then dusted it with Barbara Trombleys' art glitter. This is so cute and the penguins' eyeshadow matches her sucker. Here are the details to this card:
Stamps:
Christmas Critters, Sweet Thang (Kim Hughes Collection by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Pitch Black, Watermelon Adirondack Dye ink (Ranger)
Paper:
Spring Moss Light and Dark, Simply Smooth White, Black (Prism)
Urban Lily Patterned Paper
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Circle Dies (Spellbinders)
Art Glitter (Barbara Trombley)
Glaze Accents (Ranger)

Here is the finished card. I did do some "out of the box" cutting on the main image and paper pieced the center part of the penguin. I stamped the penguin on both the green and white cardstock then cut the center of the white cardstock image and pieced it on top of my green stamped image. I colored it with copics. Yummmm, I could use some sugar right now!

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.

CHF Challenge Chicks Technique Challenge

Are you ready for some techniques?! The challenge chicks are at it again and this week we challenged each other to try a technique from our forum. Well that is where I started.....but then couldn't stop!
The technique I started with was the burnt edge technique by Lisa Strahl, you can view it in the forums HERE.

I am so pleased with this final project, recycling an unused tin. I used the new ScrapblockTM that is being released tomorrow called "Aged Sheet Music". I rounded the corners like the tin and placed this down first.
Another technique you say?...How about the Alcohol Resist technique, you can see it here on Tim Holtz's blog. I wanted to see how it would work with a highly detailed image.....

Here you can see my results up close. Now I have to admit something....this result was after trying it 6 times!
Here is what I learned....MAKE SURE you let the alcohol ink dry FULLY before you do the resist technique. I was impatient and wasn't waiting long enough and was wiping some of the ink away and therefore not getting a clean image.
Ah, yes, patience.....something this technique taught me today.
But oh....the results were SO WORTH IT!

One more little aside, the image is mirrored when you use this technique which I thought was rather fun.

Here is the list of supplies:
Stamps:
Santa's Lap (SEP) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Aged Sheet Music (Scrapblock) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Sentiment (Thomas Kinkade) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Butterscotch, Espresso, Wild Plum, Raisin Alcohol inks (Ranger)
Black Archival Ink (Ranger)
Vintage Photo, Shabby Shutters Distress Ink (Ranger)
Paper:
White Glossy (ranger)
Fleuriste Patterned Paper (Cosmo Cricket)
Accessories:
Snow Cap Paint Dauber (Ranger)
Red Dragon Embossing Powder
Fragment , Grungeboard (Tim Holtz)
Corner Rounder (Marvy)
Alcohol Ink Applicator
WeRMemories Tin I recycled

Now to go and hop around and see what the rest of the CHF chicks came up with for the technique fun. Here are their links:

Sneaks and some camping pics!

I have my hands on the first Saturday Evening Post image! Woohoo!!!! The detail on this image is incredible! I love stamps that have the option on whether they can be colored or not and this is one of them. I am showing it in the non colored version (except for the twig of holly in Santa's hat).
I think we all must have that nostalgic memory of sitting on Santa's knee, I love the look of wonder in this boy's face and the warm joy in Santa's face.

Here are the details:
Stamps:
Santa's Lap (Saturday Evening Post) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Aged Sheet Music (Scrapblocks) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Sentiment (Thomas Kinkade) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Coffee Bean, Beige, Olive (Brilliance)
Vintage Photo Distress Ink (Ranger)
Paper:
Natural Smooth, Kraft (Prism)
Accessories:
Ribbon, Buttons (Making Memories)
Flower (Prima)
Edge Distressing Tool (Making Memories)
Circle Die (Spellbinders)
Sewing Machine
Copic Markers

Here is the full card....did you know that this is actually TWO sneaks? Yup, that is a new ScrapblockTM that you see as my background. This card is 5.25" square and I LOVE having the coverage of a ScrapblockTM (being that they are 6" square in size)! Aged music, isn't that just perfect for Christmas time. I was humming "have yourself a merry little Christmas" the whole time while making this card.
The Dates for release you ask????

The ScrapblockTM is released Tuesday (the 5th) and the Santa's Lap image is on Friday (the 8th)! You will be able to find them HERE.

If you are interested in seeing some family photos from last week camping, here they are....
My family....I love them so much!
The kids had so much fun feeding the multitude of gophers in Manning Park. This is a regular family pit stop on the way to the Okanagon.
Home sweet home for one week. Actually our site was very pretty and private. We had neighbors on either side but none in behind or in front of us. It took a little adjustment sleeping in a tent though, all the sounds of the outdoors. I sent Mike out regularly to check for possible bears when I heard rustling by the tent.
Gorgeous landscape, the picture says it all!
Very fun times at the beach and a fun action shot of Mike catching the football.
This is how I liked to spend my time on the water, just floating and enjoying the sun!
Some of the best times were right at our campsite just sitting and visiting with each other....no TV, ipods, computer, nintendo....it was a nice change of pace.
I must say though....my bed felt WONDERFUL last night!
