False Pregnancy.....WHAT?

Well, it's official. I took Lucy to the vet today to see what was going on with her and the vet confirmed a "false pregnancy". Apparently dogs can do this....she lost belly hair, gained weight, was even producing milk....all for no puppies! Needless to say we were all a little sad, especially the kids. Oh well, at least I won't have to worry about leaving new puppies while I toot off to CHA.
Just wanted to update you all.......sigh.

My dog did this after been spayed at 5 years old. It's the weirdest thing! The poor thing. Mine got all of her toys together and thought they were her puppies.
Have good trip karma!

That's so odd, I didn't know that could happen. Too bad she had to go through all of that, and you too!

do you want puppies that bad? Poor little girl. if not, neutering is the best way. Happy puppy, happy house and so much better for the world too.

Awww, I am so sorry for you all. I am sure you got your hopes up too especially finding out so late. Poor Lucy. Give her an extra hug from me.

Oh Sherrie, I'm so sorry. I had Rottweilers in the past, use to show and breed them. I've had this happen too. It is very disappointing. She may very well now be guarding a toy or something, acting like it is her puppy. I've even had them go into false labor with the dripping from the back end and all. I was so looking forward to puppies. I know what you go through when you decide to breed and raise a litter of puppies, it is so disappointing to not have any.

Yep, when I was a kid, we had a Pekinese dog that did the same thing. Such strange things, huh? Disappointing I'm sure.

Hope she's handling it okay -- even doggies have to go through some crummy emotional stuff, huh? Can't wait to see you in a few short days!!!
