Card Art

There are moments when I am done creating a card that I can look at my project and see the "art". This was one of those times!
Inspired by a clean and simple challenge over on SCS I decided I wanted to create more of an art looking piece. I love white flowers, although they are sometimes very hard to capture in stamping as the paper is usually white, therefore it is hard to "color" white.

I'll talk a little technique here beside my close-up. Feel free to click on it to see it even closer. To achieve these white flowers I stamped them with versamark on white paper and embossed with clear detail powder.
My dilemma.... I can't use tradition dye ink to make the stems black as they would resist the color. Out came my copics. The black stems I colored with my marker then I masked the entire flower and airbrushed the background.

A couple things to note...since my flowers are white I wanted my most intense airbrushing to be right next to the flowers. I used a few colors R39, R35, R22, W2, W7. After airbrushing I peeled my masks off and used R000 to color what was left untouched by the embossing powder in the middle of my flowers. Sometimes dragging a little of my airbrushed sky for color into my flowers. I also shadowed the flowers with my W7 marker for more definition. As you can tell, I just did a lot of playing and was so pleased with the results.
There is more resist challenge fun over at Cornish Heritage Farms...with big prizes, make sure you check that out too!
Here is my complete supply list:
Stamps:
Freesia Happiness (Jan 2009 SOTM), Mother's Day Centers (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:

Versamark, Black Stazon (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Simply Smooth White, Black (Prism)
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Air Brush System (Copic)

Ribbon (Prima)
Button
Clear Detail Embossing Powder

Note: I used the stazon ink for my sentiment as I knew I wanted to stamp on my white flower a little and if I used dye or pigment ink it would not stay overtop of that embossed finish.
Thanks for letting me GUSH over my lil' arty card today! Have a good one!

This is the most beautiful creation. Too beautiful to be a card. Don't you dare send it to anyone who may even possibly throw it away! Heck, frame it and hang it on your wall.
