I am lovin' that the big chunky jewelry is back in again! This was an easy piece to make out of some polymer clay that I picked up at a craft store. The whole package of clay was $2, I used 1/4 of it to make this pendant. Here is another way to get some more mileage out of those fabulous background stamps you own!
A couple of little tips. For this chunky design, I felt the necklace part needed weight as well. I strung through 4 strands of rope and toggled them at the end.
I also took my silver leaf krylon pen and added a silver rim around the edge of the pendant and the inside of the circle. This helped give a finished look.
First, roll out your clay. I played with it in my hand for a while to "warm it up" and then rolled it with my small pizza roller. Roll it just slightly larger than you want the finished product to be.
Stamp your clay. This is where the DEEPLY etched rubber on background stamps comes in VERY handy. I not only inked my piece but I pressed quite firmly and made an impression as well. I used this wonderful metallic ink by Tsukineko. It shows off really well on the black.
Hmmmm, shape? Well, I'm not the best at free hand so I took one of my spellbinder dies (oval nestie) and pressed it into my clay.
Take your blade and run it around the rim of the die in order to cut out your shape.
I have a little circle cutter (It is used in cake decorating) and I cut out where I want my necklace to attach.
Now bake on a piece of parchment paper to the recommended heat on the clay package...now this was really quick and easy. The necklace looks great with my little black t-shirts.
Enjoy your monday....I'm off to the hospital, a dear friend of mine had a little baby last night! Woohoo!

Beautiful, Sherrie! I loved that you baked a necklace!
Be sure to send me the details on that little baby...
This is pretty impressive. One of the reasons I love stamps so much is that you can stamp ANYTHING! Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful piece!
very cool, you are just multi-talented! Love it!
I think it turned out wonderful... just a few notes to anyone else who wants to try clay...
DO NOT use any utensils on clay that you may use for food... once it's used on clay, you should never use for food again :)
Some products "eat" clay over time, be sure it's polymer friendly so your beautiful creations last!
Thanks for sharing yet another, wonderful project.
This is gorgeous, Sherrie! You may convince me to try it ... where do you get the clay? LOL!!
Yup, Lori...you gotta try it! I just picked up my clay from Michael's....buy the kind you have to bake.
WOW! This is absolutely GORGEOUS Sherrie! :)
