Holiday Wishes

This card was inspired by a couple of challenges today. At SCS Julia challenged us to do some masking and from MFT Kim gave us a sketch challenge. Yes, I can multi-task! This "home for the holidays" set from My Favorite Things is perfect for masking. I started by stamping the tree in Adirondack (juniper) ink, then stamped it again on a post-it note and cut it out. I laid the post-it note over my stamped tree then stamped the fireplace and rug Over my mask. I peeled off my post-it and Voila, a scene is born!

I used the same technique for santa's feet. Stamping the feet first then masking then stamping the fire. It is a really easy way to add depth to your card with out adding layers.

My color inspiration came from my new "figgy pudding" Basic Grey DP. Just so yummy! I colored with my copics, trying to do shading. My light source was coming in from the right so everything on the left is just a shade darker.

The sentiment is all separate words in this set, that gives many options. I could stamp my sentiment in two different colors and I have the option of having just single words to play with if I wish.

Finally my trusted sewing machine. I think I have every thread color under the sun from quilting so to find this nice blue to accent my edges was easy. I had to make sure to TAKE MY TIME on the focal image, as any stitching errors would be very obvious.

Fun day to play, I just received my new stamps that are being released November 1st. You will love em'! Make sure to pop back and check for those late in the month!

Happy Stamping!

Love it! Your layout with the large circle on the side is really great! That must have taken you forever with all that masking!!!

This is such an adorable card, Sherrie! I love all the great details. I do have to say though that I would worry about Santa coming down a chimney with a roaring fire in it!
