November Creative Challenge

Warming up your heart today with MFT's Creative Challenge. Our design team was challenged to make something cold (winter) that is heartwarming.

I love these creative challenges because I get a chance to play with some of my favorite mediums....today is really crafty, some fabric, some buttons, twine, wood, felt....yeah, you get the picture!

To start off, this sweet little ornament to the left. I used one of the Heart STAX Die-namics and cut  the felt. There are 6 hearts, 2 of each color (full supplies listed below).

Fold the hearts in half and then hot glue them to piece of hemp twine. I tied a little chandelier bobble to the bottom that is from Melissa Frances.

Next up this fabric card. I sewed two strips of fabric together then cut them with my largest Heart STAX Die-namics. I stamped the Happy Heart Snowman with brown VERSACRAFT ink and heat set it. I then colored up the snowman and heart with my copic markers.

I stitched 3/4 way around the heart then stuffed it with a little batting and finished stitching.

You can see in the photo to the left how puffy my heart is :)

Be careful when coloring red things on fabric...the ink really wants to spread so go a LITTLE at a time with your color.
Here is a look at the inside of the card. I used one of my wood accents (Studio Calico) and stamped the little love sentiment from the Happy Heart Snowman set in whipped cream ink.

This card was really fun to create. I cut a Heart STAX out of scrap paper and used it as a template for gluing down all my buttons. I also went around the edge with some more hemp twine and made a little rolled flower for the center.

The sentiment comes from Lisa Johnson's "Homespun Hearts" set. I also used this stamp set for the inside of the card that you see to the left.

Make sure you check out all the heartwarming ideas from the whole design team on the MFT Blog! Thanks for stopping by!
