Let's have cake!

To my delight my new Flourishes set arrived in the mail today! What a treat! Couldn't help but take a little time (between laundry loads) to play. I stamped the main cake pieces on some colored dp by Basic Grey and then cut out and placed it on a piece of plain white cs. I used my coluzzle system to cut an oval out of acetate to be my glass lid for my cake. I cut with my exacto knife a slit not quite large enough for the oval to slip through and then created sort of a bubble and attached with a brad to appear as my handle to the glass lid.....hard to explain....easy to do. Topped it all off with a little gold cording and there you have it....a yummy chocolate cake!

Here is a close shot of the cake cover. It is hard to capture on a photo but the effect is really cool!

Hope you are enjoying some of the last LAZY days of summer. I know my "Lucy" sure is!

Looks like you have been busy, Sherrie. I, too, have been indulging in cake and coffee and must stop now...or not. Have a great time on your holiday if I don't connect with you again before you go. Email doesn't work and our technology is a bit basic over here.

So cute Sherrie! I love your cake cover--what a clever idea. Those Jam Jams look good too. I just may have to try that. I think homemade raspberry jam is my favorite as well. Yummy!
