MFT Teaser Time!

Time for a little peek at the new Pure Innocence stamps coming this month! I am showing you "Lily of the Valley". These are just coming up in my yard so I was inspired to use her this month.
This is a very simple layout so that the focus really is the sweet image. I colored her with my copics and then embossed her and cut her out using a spellbinder die.
The loops in the die lend themselves nicely to ribbon accent.
I paper pieced her dress but didn't forget to add the shading to the dress with my cool gray markers. See how adding a bit of shading to the skirt makes the pleating look a little more life like?
I used the toner grays for her hair and shoes and then used my cool grays for the shadow cast on the ground.

MFT Teaser Time!

Welcome to teaser time for My Favorite Things. Today's set that I am previewing is called "Well-Worn Greetings".
I love it that MFT is getting so creative with its' sentiment sets! I paired up this set with some pink paisley paper you can find here.
I stamped the large background stamp from this set directly to my patterned paper in a latte color and then stamped the pretty cherry blossoms from the Inspired by Spring set.
The sentiment and frame I stamped and embossed in white, then I took my copic markers and colored the inside of the frame to draw attention to this sentiment.
Tore up the edges a little and mounted it to a white card base.
For that little something extra I added a cheeky clip with a ribbon and a felt rolled rose attached.

The Royal Wedding

Who can resist a royal wedding? I think there is a little fairy tale wedding enjoyment in all of us. I, for one, will be staying up to watch the festivities. I remember watching Diana's wedding when I was a little girl....awestruck by her dress.
Today's card is in anticipation of the wedding....also I love to have wedding cards in my stash as we get close to summer.
All the images and papers are Melissa Frances, you can find them in the 5th Avenue collection at Ellen's shop HERE.
The rolled roses were created out of paper and crepe paper using this Mini Rolled Roses die from My Favorite Things.
Here is a little close up of the rolled roses. You can really manipulate the petals when cutting them from crepe paper...the pearl centers are just a finishing touch.

I'd love to hear if you are staying up too.....looking forward to the pageantry, elegance and attention to every detail that only a royal wedding brings. I hope they get a beautiful day as it is POURING here today.

My Sunshine

*****You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happyyyy when skies are gray.....You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away.******
The little tune I had playing in my head while I made this card. Having a little love today for My Favorite Things products. I combined a few sets:
Crazy for Daisies (Pure Innocence Image)
Polka Dot Greetings Die and Stamp set
Sentiment from the Framed Greetings Set

I love how the bottom came out....this was done by simply running my white card base through my die cut machine with the "Perfect Bracket Edge" dienamic. Love how it gives it just a little something extra.
Colored up with my Copic Markers and she is ready to give away....quick and easy little thank you card!

This week is the beginning of MFT teasers so be sure to watch as plenty of cards will be hitting my blog this week:)

The Lamb of God

It is Good Friday and a day where my mind reflects on the Lamb of God.....sacrificed for me.
Today's card wasn't to fulfill any design team commitments but just to enjoy card making, a gift that I really enjoy.
A little about this card, it is combining a few of my favorite companies together. The paper, image, crepe paper and tag are from the 5th Avenue collection by Melissa Frances.
I cut from felt this pretty "open scallop doily" and then cut from crepe paper the "mini rolled roses", I used the large one in the duo. I gasped at how pretty these flowers are cut from crepe!

The white seam binding was dyed with my R30 reinker in a ziplock bag....quick and easy, because it is alcohol ink it dries lightning fast so no waiting!

On to the tag....
I have this Papertrey set from years ago that has some beautiful sentiments in it. I thought this verse was very fitting for Easter. Jesus' death and resurrection is the reason that I have my eternal hope. If any of my readers want to know more about this hope...please contact me as I will share my faith with any/all of you!

This weekend I get to celebrate my faith with my family and loved ones! There will be church where we sing some of my favorite hymns and there will be paska (in true mennonite fashion).

Wishing Easter Blessings to you and your families!

Playing with the supplies that are currently scattered on my desk. My Picket Fence paper, kraft card stock and this beautiful stamp set from the "Inspired by" line from My Favorite Things! It looks like this popular set is currently out of stock but should be coming back very shortly due to it's popularity!
I love this gorgeous fine script font in the sentiments!
I colored with both my copics and my colored pencils and then laid a little glaze on the eggs.
The center die is the peony Spellbinders die...perfect for spring!

Here is the sketch so you can play along....

Enjoy your day!

I was able to pull out my picket fence paper to create my card for today's hop. Love this collection...especially because it was designed by a crafting friend, Julia Stainton!

I wanted to go clean and simple today. Using some of my favorite MFT dienamics:
Simply Scallops
Pretty Posies
I scrunched up a couple of the pretty posies that I die cut with felt to get a bit of dimension.

I also used a combo of copic markers and pencils to get the skin tones that I liked coloring directly on kraft colored card stock. Finished off with a little bit of bling!

Here is what the LOVELY VIP kit includes:
Who's that Girl - Girls Rule VIP Collection $37.65
Who's that Girl - Girls Rule! stamp set

A La Modes Teaser

Welcome to a new week! The card classes at Forever Scrapbooks that I was advertising for Toronto have all SOLD OUT! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the end of May for some coloring fun!
It is teaser time for the A la Modes line this month for My Favorite Things! Here is "Dream Big"....isn't she sweet sitting on the moon in her jammies. The A la Modes get released mid month (April 19th) along with the VIP kit. You will have to pop by tomorrow for a glimpse of this month's "Who's that girl" image...
For today's card I used some Pink Paisley Patterned paper that I bought HERE at Ellen's shop. It went so well with my doily die! A little bit of bling mimicking a starry night.
Here is a close up of this sweet new image....I colored her up with my copics and then cut her out with a spellbinder die to mount her to the doily.
Love this large doily die! It is called the "High Tea Doily" from MFT and it is so intricate...just like a real doily. I loved that I could die cut it from the patterned paper to match my card!

Make sure to pop by Kim's blog to see the list of designers previewing today's A la Mode!
See you tomorrow for the VIP blog hop!

Sketch Challenge

Welcome to a sketch challenge! I love this nice open design of a sketch as it leaves a lot of latitude to play! You can play along in the My Favorite Things forums at SCS HERE.
Be sure to check out Kim's blog for the full list of designer's playing along....now on to my card...
I used this sweet image from MFT in the Jolinne collection. Colored her up with my copics!

If you looked at my card yesterday I did some embossing with the die. I did the same thing here today. I embossed the "flat bottom cloud" die on the white X-press it card stock. I also cut them from some gray felt.
You may have noticed that I use this "Fresh Cut Grass Border" die A LOT....love this die for scenes.

Off to check out what the other girls came up with! Enjoy your day!

UR 2 Cute!

Clean and simple lil' spring card today....Hubby bought me these tulips (just because) and I used them for my color scheme today.
This is a one layer card where I stamped Pure Innocence girl "One Sweet Chick" (from My Favorite Things) and colored her with my copics to match my paper and my tulips.
As you can see, I had some fun with my dies....First I took the "Say What" Dies and embossed them on the white paper without cutting through. You do this by backing your paper with the embossing mat so that it doesn't cut. I then cut one of the dies through my doodlebug paper and stamped the sentiment from the Say What stamp set.
A few more My Favorite Things dies added to the mix:
The banner strip die and the Fresh Cut Grass die to finish off the card.

Enjoy your day!

MFT BLOG HOP AND SHOP!

Welcome to release day at My Favorite Things! This is the official hop, so if you have joined me from Jodi's Blog then you are hopping along just great! If you are a regular visitor to my blog you may want to start at the beginning of the hop....which is Kim's blog!
You KNOW how much I enjoy coloring and this little sweetie was so sweet to color! I actually am showing you TWO sets on this card.

The obvious one is the sweet little PI image called "I get a kick out of you". There are many different kinds of balls in this set and the first one to see ink from me is the VOLLEYBALL! Woohoo!!! Love the volleyball!

The second set that I am showing you is the "Typewriter Alphabet"....I love this! Now I can have fun making whatever sentiment my little heart desires....
I thought Vball was very appropriate!

Tied this little sweetie up with matching twine and there you have it! No patterned paper (shocker for me), just coloring! The ground and sky were airbrushed. Using the newest BG 70 to add to the BG 72,75,78 series.....ahhhhh love!

Thanks for hopping along and now I send you off to Frances' Blog.... I am sure you will find fantastic inspiration there!

Hello Sunshine!

I just adore this artist for My Favorite Things. Here is a peek at the newest Claire Keay image called "Hello Sunshine" that is going to be released April 5th.
I paired her up with some My Mind's Eye papers and stamped the sentiment in faded jeans distress ink.
I colored her up with my copic markers and then distressed all the edges with a little bit of sand glimmer mist.
I used the RV90 series and the B90 series to color my image....this coordinated very well with the very desaturated colors in my patterned papers.
This is a brand spankin' new die for release as well.

This is called "Pretty Posies", it is a set of 3 sizes of flowers and their centers. I made this shabby flower by spraying them all with sand glimmer mist and then crunching them up and piercing a pearl brad through the center.
Tip:
The flower is so much easier to crunch up and manipulate if you get them wet...so glimmer mist was perfect for this!
Here are the details about the upcoming release on April 5th at 10 PM EST:

Melissa Frances Recipe Exchange!

Have you been to the Melissa Frances blog lately? We are having a fun recipe exchange! There is going to be a prize as well!

Here is my family favorite recipe...you have seen it on my blog before....
Jam Jams
2eggs
1c. brown sugar
1c. shortning (crisco blue box)
6tbsp syrup (rogers)

2tsp. baking soda

1tsp. vanilla

Flour to make a soft dough (3-5c.)

Cream together your shortning and sugar Add the eggs, syrup, and vanilla Sprinkle in the soda Gradually add the flour, just enough so that the dough pulls away from the perimeter of the bowl. Roll out to desired thickness and cut into shapes. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 7 min (or until lightly golden brown) Sandwich your cookies with your favorite homemade jam. I love raspberry, nice and tart!

Remember the scrapbook page I did with these cookies?

You can see the close ups back in THIS POST.

So hop on over to Melissa Frances' Blog and link up a family favorite to be entered in the draw for a fun prize! Looking forward to checking out those recipes!
