Fred Bear Teaser Day!

Today's teasers are all about Fred Bear....and this is "Fred Bear and the Butterfly"....I think this is the cutest Fred Bear so far. You will be able to find him on release day at My Favorite Things on June 2nd.
You know I had to color him with copics because I wanted to do the blending solution rag technique to give him that fur like quality. If you want to see how that is done I have demoed it on youtube HERE.

What a treat to now have this fresh grass die-namics die. I used 2 different colors of MFT felt for this card....you will be seeing a lot of grass from me!

Die-namics Teaser

It is time for a peek at the new dies coming to My Favorite Things....HUGE on my wishlist was GRASS! I wanted a die and not a punch so that I could have cute felt grass.
I even made a little grassy hill with my die. This is using MFT's newest felt as well, it cuts like a dream!
How did I get that grass to stick? I just took my ATG gun and applied adhesive on the bottom of my card in the shape of a hill. I then die cut several strips of grass and laid them on in rows.
This is using the Stephanie Fizer set "Sheltering Tree". I was going for this really organic feel to my card so I stamped the tree on the cork sheets from MFT and cut it out.
The fabulous rub on sentiment is from Melissa Frances.
Here is a little close up of my grassy hill. The cute little characters I colored with my copic markers and I also gave a little copic color to my cork tree for shadows.
Here is my complete list of supplies:
Stamps:
Sheltering Tree (Stephanie Fizer) by My Favorite Things
Ink:
Rich Cocoa Memento, Olive Brilliance, Chocolate Brilliance (Tsukineko)
Paper:
Core Impressions (Cosmo Cricket Neutrals) by Core'dinations
White (Neenah)
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Felt, Cork (MFT)
Grass Die-namics (MFT)
Rub on (Melissa Frances)
Foliage Hardware (Tim Holtz)

Make sure you hop around and see what the other designers have cooked up with the new dies....you can find the whole list on Kim's blog by 11am EST.

Back from Alaska!

How did you spend your May long weekend?...for us Canadians that is...
I spent a jammed packed weekend full of crafting fun with eye candy in papercrafts but the biggest eye candy was the landscape! Alaska is GORGEOUS and I had a beautiful weekend too!
It is now Alaska's tourist and fishing season so I thought I would show you this fun little fishing card...
This is a simple layout as to draw attention to the fun image! I colored it with my copics and airbrushed all my edges to distress the papers.
I also took my pinking sheers to the bottom of the card for a little extra something.
Here are the full list of card deets:
Stamps:
Fishing with my Dog (Sara England) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Espresso Adirondack (Ranger)
Paper:
Lil' Man Collection (Cosmo Cricket)
Natural Card Stock (Neenah)
Accessories:
Copic Markers
Airbrush System (Copic)

Sewing
Pinking Sheers
Tiny Attacher (Tim Holtz)

Here is a photo with my lovely hostess for the weekend. Betty from Stamp Attic was so wonderful to me. She picked me up and drove me around....even showed me the sights of Alaska and Anchorage. This is taken just outside the hotel room we used for the certification.
Here is a photo of some of the lovely ladies I met in Anchorage. This is one of the card classes I taught. Betty was able to use the empty space right next to her store so that we could have ample space to play and then were able to go and shop!
The mountains literally took my breath away and I marveled at the beauty God has created in Alaska. I am fortunate to live among very pretty mountains but had NEVER seen ones like these! This was a quick road side stop and Betty was kind enough to snap a picture with me in it!

Thank you to the wonderful people of Alaska whom I met....they were so delightful and made my stay there fantastic!

Well....today is my LARGE dental appointment....can you say 3 root canals, 2 crowns and five composite fillings in one day....I am soon to be very drugged and can't wait for the day to end. Hopefully tomorrow I will be clear headed and can play in my studio!
Have a great day!

Sketch Friday!

Happy Friday! The eve of the LONG WEEKEND! I head to Alaska this weekend...I am SO looking forward to the scenery and hoping to get some good photos from the plane if it is clear.

Todays sketch is a really cute one....and is perfect for all those "cute" images so I figured the rest of the sketch crew would probably have cute covered....so I did something different.
The theme of this card is "WOOD". My card base is the woodgrain cardstock from Core'dinations Core Impressions line. My wood cabin image is a Stamp of the month from Cornish Heritage Farms and I even did my stamping on some of Creative Imaginations real wood paper. Even the rustic wood buttons fit the theme!
The sentiment is a fabulous rub on from Melissa Frances. The grungeboard heart I covered with the same coffee bean brilliance ink that I stamped in.
Here is a close up of the image, here you can even see the little lady on her porch chair. I inked the center with the coffee bean ink and then I inked the trees and brush with the clover ink I had out from yesterday's card.

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the sketch crew came up with:
Jami Sibley: More is More
Monika Davis: M.A.D. Stamper
Melissa Sauls: In Stamping Mode
Alice Lihsuan-Wertz: Alice's Little Wonderland
Lisa Hjulberg: The Craft's Meow
Lori Craig: Making a Difference

Enjoy your weekend! I know I will enjoy mine!....I get to color all weekend (big smiles)!

Clean and Simple with Fabric

Playing along again with Moxie Fab World's fabric challenge....today I decided to go quite clean and simple. This is some fun Moda fabric cut with my spellbinder shapeabilites and then run through my xyron for adhesive to stick them to my card.
The sentiment is from the "For the Men" set from Cornish Heritage Farms...I loved the kind of homemade looking font and I stamped it in Clover green pigment ink from Ranger.
Finishing touches were the messy stitching along the edge a wee bit of ribbon and an apple green button.

Here is a little close up of the fruit...I did color the stems with my copic markers (G14) was perfect!
Off and running today as there seems to be a lot to do....my lil' guys birthday today!
My baby is 12.....ACK! Where does that time go?

Come back tomorrow for sketch friday!

VIP blog hop!

Welcome to the VIP blog hop and shop for My Favorite Things! There are two sets that are being shown in the hopping tonight and I am showing you "Costumes from Wonderland"! I was thrilled to see this set as it tickles my vintage bone and I loved the newest adaptation of Alice in Wonderland in the theatres.

You can scroll to the bottom to see all the logistics and details of this VIP hop!

A little about my project....well I searched through the (not so little) pile of patterned paper and found this vintage pad that I had bought by Prima! It was beyond perfect for this...as you see the hare with his watch!
I wanted to create a little bookmark, after all we have a couple of Alice in Wonderland books in our house.

I stamped Alice on the front and colored her with copics...what I loved is that I could color her dress to match my paper, it didn't have to be baby blue in this case. I stitched her on with my sewing machine creating a little pocket for my bookmark. The sentiment also fit the size of this card well and I stamped it along the top.

Here is a photo of the bookmark removed. I love this character balancing her tea cups! I went with my patterned paper and added an eyelet to the center of the "O" in Once upon a time. I had a little scrap of prima ribbon trim that went out the side of my bookmark...because everything in wonderland is a little unconventional.
Here is a close up of Alice colored. I paper pieced her little apron too.
Tip: to get a vintage look I went over my entire image after coloring her with my W00 marker. This helped blend her into the tones of my paper.
Finally, here is a closer look at the bookmark. They were so much fun to color! What a fun little birthday card to add to my stash for special occasions!

Hopefully you came here from Kim's Blog as she is the queen of MFT and the beginning of the hop too!

Monday, Monday

Monday....clearly my dog had way too much fun on the weekend enjoying the gorgeous weather and running in the yard with the kids! Although this is what I FEEL like doing, there is far too much to be done to go there.....
Yes, I am enjoying playing with flowers these days. Making my own custom flowers for cards are really fun, and these large flowers have pins on the back so that they can be pulled off and adhered to headbands, tote bags or anything else that needs a little girl appeal. Moxie Fab World has a fun new challenge and it is to use fabric in your design....well as not too much of a challenge for me as I do this quite frequently, it is fun to play along. You can play along too! Click HERE for those details!
To make this flower I pulled out some very old and dated eyelet fabric. I had a piece of felt cut into a circle for the base that is covered with adhesive then I loosely wrapped my eyelet fabric into a circle. I pulled out my copic airbrush system to add some color. V95,V99 for the eyelet fabric and then I made a little twill tape rolled center that I airbrushed with BG72.
The lavendar layer of card stock is Arturo paper....beautiful texture! You can find some in Ellen's shop here.
The patterned paper is lovely Melissa Frances. I only had a scrap of it left so I am not sure of it's name but you know you love a paper if you are using scraps! I used Melissa Frances white ric rac as well.
I also used my copic multiliner pen to add another frame to my card and tie in the black sentiment. I have seen this done by Nicole Heady and just love the look of sophistication that it brings.
I also used my new die-namics from MFT. This is the jumbo scallop....seems that I am reaching for it all the time!
Here is a little close shot of the sentiment. It is from the "Clearly sentimental about Mother's" set from My Favorite Things. I actually stamped it twice. Once in juniper ink (Ranger) then again in black...love the little shadow effect that brings.

Wishing you an enjoyable and productive Monday....I have had a latte and am off to the races today. My daughter is playing one of her piano pieces in a piano festival today so in between picking kids up and dropping them off at their events today I will be prepping for Alaska this weekend. I can't wait! Should be a FUN long weekend!
Later!

Sketch Friday!

Yeah it's Friday! The weather is beautiful here....perfect for fruit...and CHOCOLATE! I will have to indulge through my card as I am watching my waistline....

The inspiration....THE awesome strawberry paper from the "Garden Variety" collection from Cosmo Cricket.

I pulled out an oldie but goodie stamp set. It is Taylored Expressions "Berries and Cherries" set. That little basket of strawberries was really fun to color with my copics. I also stamped the berries on the twill tape and colored them with my copics.
I airbrushed the main image with the YR31 and E49 markers...I love how precise I could get even with a dark colored marker like E49.

That smudge on the ribbon....totally UNintentional....LOL! But it added to the character of the card so I left it. If it was really chocolate and not liquid applique I would have licked my fingers and the smudge wouldn't happen....oh well:)
Here is a really close shot.....yummmo! I used YR31,R35, R39 for my berries and YG13, YG17 for the stems.

Here is the sketch so you can play along in TAYLOR'S challenge.
Don't forget to see what the rest of the sketch crew came up with:
Jami Sibley: More is More
Monika Davis: M.A.D. Stamper
Lynn Mercurio: Stamperosity
Rachel Sztonyk: Gingerbread Gallery
Alice Lihsuan-Wertz: Alice's Little Wonderland
Lisa Hjulberg: The Craft's Meow

Heart on a String

Yes, someone has my heart on a string....my hubby! He surprised me with Michael Buble tickets to see him in concert on my birthday! Now I know that is a few months away but I am sure looking forward to it. The "heart on a string" made me think of his song...which I have been humming all morning.
This new Jolinne also has my heart on a string....I love her little sweet dress in this image and the balloon is really fun! You can find her HERE at MFT!
I had to pair her up with the new DeLovely papers from Cosmo Cricket! They are a perfect style match for this image...and I had to play along with Julia's "Ways to use it" challenge on SCS. We were encouraged to pull out our paper edge distressers. I love distressing an edge, I curled up my corners using my paper piercer as well.
Here is a close up of the coloring with my copic markers.
COME AND COLOR WITH ME!
I am heading to Langley's Precious Memories on Saturday and there are still some seats left if you would like to come and color for a couple of hours....pick up some great tips and just have fun! We will be coloring 3 cards and a bonus 4th card using a Pure Innocence image of your choice!

My daughter took this photo yesterday off our deck....oh what a view! We live in a beautiful part of the country.....Now I'm off to make coffee and sit on our deck to enjoy this view!

Tutorial Tuesday...

Go grab a cuppa....today's post is a long winded one!

I have had fun making flowers lately...especially pins for my cards that you can pull off the card and attach to your favorite headband, totebag, plain sweater, tank top....the possibilities are endless. Lots of you asked for a tutorial on my twill tape flower. This tutorial is basically the same process but using felt and a die cut as well...to make it go quicker!
I love this beautiful new paper from Cosmo Cricket called DeLovely...I was inspired by the flower design in the paper!
Here is what I started with ...I have 5 strips of felt that are all 6" in length. Two are 2" wide. Two are 1.5" wide and the thin strip is .5" wide.
I just found another AWESOME use for these die-namics from MFT!
I used my jumbo scallop die and lined up the edges to my felt to cut a scalloped border.
I cut all the pieces but the last skinny piece.
I used my scissors to snip the petals. I ended up using 6 of the 2" petals and all 8 of the 1.5" petals.
I only had cream colored felt on hand so I airbrushed each petal with YG13, a beautiful bright green....think of all your flower color options when you use the air brush system!
If you don't own a large bottle of Fabri-tac....now is the time to buy some! It is really strong and seems to last forever! I placed a dab of glue at the base of my petal.
I have all these coffee clips from the coffee beans that I buy (Yes, I buy a lot of coffee...but I digress). You could use clothes pins or spare "clip it up" pins to hold your petal while you wait for the glue to dry.
As you can see it would take longer if I had to hold each one as it dried....as well as sticky fingers. This method worked really well.
I cut a scrap piece of felt into a small circle and ran it through my xyron to apply adhesive to the back side. Then, sticky side up, I placed my outer ring in petals.
I repeated this process to form my inner ring with my smaller 1.5" petals.
For the center I took my skinny airbrushed strip and rolled and twisted it in my hand.
I added a generous glob of glue to the tail piece and stuck it to the backside to hold my twisted center together.
Here is a photo of the backside of the center piece.
Once glued into place my flower looks like this!
I do like making these into pins so I fabri-taced (may not be a word) one to the backside of my flower.
Here is a photo of the flower....I did a gate folding card.
I pinned my flower to a small piece of ribbon that I have sticking out of my gate fold. You can see that it would be easily removable.
The quote on this card is beautiful too! It is a set from My Favorite Things called "Clearly Sentimental about Birthdays".
One last note....I did airbrush my little pearls to match too!
You could do these same steps with a lot of different material....I think I need to try a paper bloom too!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!
Have a great day!

Moxie Monday

Leave it to the last day to play along in the Moxie Fab World challenge "Three Cheers for Chairs"! I just received the fabulous new paper line from Cosmo Cricket called DeLovely! I knew that retro-vintage chair would go great for this challenge and I loved the ruffle skirt on the chair so I ruffled up my ribbon to go on my card.
I was looking for a cool "doily" like image it set my chair on but couldn't find any in my stash so I decided to airbrush one with my Copic Airbrush System. This template is from crafter's workshop and I use these in my certification classes when I am demoing airbrushing. Love this look with the B49 marker to match my sentiment on the card. I didn't want the whole template so I masked of the area that I didn't want with some post-it notes.
Here is the finished look after airbrushing.
A final little touch of going around the edges in a stitch pattern with my colored multiliner pen and then I wanted my pearls to match so I airbrushed them in an RV19....perfect match for my chair!
Looks like a beautiful day here! Hope you enjoy your Monday!
